Netflix has made a name for itself by shining a light on international films and television. It continues this mission with My Dearest Assassin, Netflix Thailand’s first action-romantic drama. The first trailer promises unflinching bloodshed as it enters the world of assassins, featuring intense fight choreography that doesn’t shy away from the realities of these characters.
This comes as little surprise, considering the director, Taweewat Wantha, is best known for his work in the horror genre, such as Death Whisperer and Tha Rae: The Exorcist. He brings those horror sensibilities into a more grounded action approach, as a young woman must practice the skills of an assassin to maintain her autonomy and protect herself.
The high-impact action aims to blend a range of styles, from using blades to close-quarters brawling. Each character has their own method of fighting and their own stylistic approach that distinguishes one from the other. For anyone in the mood for romance with an edge, My Dearest Assassin is worth taking a look at.
What is My Dearest Assassin about?

The film follows a young woman, Lhan, who was born with a rare blood type that made her a target from childhood. After her parents are murdered for that blood, she is rescued by House 89, a secretive assassin clan that becomes the only family she has ever known. It’s through House 89 that she meets Pran, the heir to House 89, and M, an orphan raised in the house.
Years later, the man who killed her parents is still hunting for her blood. This time, instead of running, Lhan chooses to stand her ground alongside the people she loves.
My Dearest Assassin highlights a range of love as it looks at what it means to be a family and the lengths you’ll go to protect someone who hold close. As director director Taweewat Wantha says in the news release, “The assassins of House 89 live together, grow up together, and stand by one another. Their love is so powerful that they are willing to sacrifice their lives for each other.”
