NIS America announced that they are partnering with Gemdrops and BROCCOLI to publish the musical action adventure game Etrange Overlord on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4 in the West. A Japanese-language title, it will feature text in both English and French on console, as well as both languages, with the addition of Japanese on Console.

This is the latest game from Sohei Niikawa, who is known for his other musical titles, Dual Orb: Seireiju Densetsu, Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure, and Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. One of the most striking elements is art by illustrator Shinichiro Otsuka, known for his work on the popular title Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World.

What is Etrange Overlord about?

In Etrange Overlord, players are Étrange von Rosenburg, who is falsely accused of assassinating the king. With no defense, she is swiftly executed and sent to Hell. And of course, your job is to take Hell over, as one does.

The title features a revolving lane mechanic that sends items, buffs, and even characters circling around the map. But this isn’t a musical adventure that you take on alone. As you progress through the story, you’ll be able to challenge action-packed stages with your friends in the separate, 2-4 player multiplayer mode.

NIS America Shares Etrange Overlord’s Key Features

NIS America shared a list of key game features for the musical title, which you can read below:

  • An Army of Subordinates: As Étrange von Rosenburg, gather a colorful cast of characters from all corners of hell and put them to work as your subordinates! Each lovable character was designed by legendary illustrator Shinichiro Otsuka.
  • Chase the Revolving Lane: Shoot, dodge, and slash your way across the battlefield in fast-paced action RPG gameplay, featuring a unique lane mechanic that sends items, power-ups, and even your characters revolving around the stage! Then enjoy the frenetic gameplay with up to four friends in the multiplayer mode!
  • Living Your Best Afterlife: Just because you’re in hell doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy yourself! Follow Étrange as she tries to live her best life no matter the circumstances in a far-reaching story with plenty of laughs, heart, and musical numbers!

What is the release date?
