Edward in 9-1-1 Nashville Episode 6

9-1-1 Nashville Episode 6 delivers the best episode so far, titled “Good Southern Manors,” just as it heads to midseason break. There’s still a lot of focus on the Hart family, but this time, Tim Matheson stops by to cause a bit of family drama. And dispatch finally gets a focus as Cammie deals with a new corporate boss who’s only concerned about numbers.

It can’t be a show set in Nashville without a nod to whiskey. In 9-1-1 Nashville Episode 6, a mishap at a local distillery leads to a large fire, bringing the 113 on scene. Don and Ryan (Michael Provost) know the distillery’s CEO, Edward Raleigh (Matheson). He’s Ryan’s grandfather and Blythe’s father. As Don instructs his team to take any possible measures to stop the fire, it’s clear there’s significant tension between Don and Edward.

Which is fantastic news because Matheson is best in that recurring procedural villain role. Always here to stir up drama for the main character. And Edward doesn’t just own the distillery, he’s also responsible for the 113’s swanky-looking firehouse. We know his estate is large, what with the mansion and everything, but Edward also clearly has some pull throughout the city. So when Don is confronted by budget cuts, Edward’s checkbook is a logical solution.

Tim Matheson is great in the recurring villain role.

But Edward’s mad at Don for instructing his team to empty the vats at his distillery, and delivers an ultimatum to Don. He’ll cut a check, but Don has to fire Blue (Hunter McVey). Blue’s more blue-collar status and no official fire academy training are Edward’s leverage.

The only annoying thing in this part of 9-1-1 Nashville Episode 6 is how easy Don (Chris O’Donnell) capitulates to Edward’s demand. For the past few episodes, Don has been loud and proud about why Blue shouldn’t have to go to the fire academy, despite how ridiculous that sounds. And he just decides so easily that he’s going to fire Blue?

Obviously, he finds a loophole. A criminal one, to be exact. Turns out Edward has been stealing water from the city to run his distillery. This solves the budget cut issue for now in 9-1-1 Nashville Episode 6, although Edward leaves on a threatening note. Good! The more Matheson, the better.

The new boss is out for blood in 9-1-1 Nashville Episode 6.

Ariella in 9-1-1 Nashville Episode 6

Budget cuts hit dispatch as well, which brings in a corporate overseer whose main priority is efficiency and deciding who to cut. The new boss’s name is Ariella Kinsey (Anna Wood), and she’s out for blood. Some of this leans a little too much on the cartoon villain side of things, drawing a clear line between good and bad guys here.

It’s very obvious that Ariella’s way of doing things, like hanging up on pocket dials, not making any human connection with the callers, and timing everyone on their calls, is not going to last long.

But this whole storyline is a great way to show off dispatch for the first time. We get to know Cammie more. As part of the Raleigh family through marriage, her late husband’s estate also helped renovate and upgrade dispatch, which is why they have the fancy video call system.

The dispatchers get to show off some heart in 9-1-1 Nashville Episode 6.

Dispatch in 9-1-1 Nashville Episode 6

This comes under fire from Ariella, who only sees a waste of resources and money. Having an outside party come in and try to change things goes a long way in understanding the heart of the dispatchers. Cammie’s not the only dispatcher, either. Seems like there will be some recurring faces at dispatch, as there should be.

But 9-1-1 Nashville Episode 6 really shows us who Cammie is, someone who loves her job and does it because she believes the city and its people deserve better care than what’s been provided before. But she’s also not afraid to step up to authority, and will absolutely follow through on her threats.

When she goes to resign to Ariella, she finds Ariella crying. After telling everyone to hang up on a pocket dial, it turns out a businesswoman was choking to death in her hotel room. Ariella over-identified with the patient for sure, but her and Cammie’s following conversation is filled with a lot of understanding and reconciliation on both parts. What started out as a melodramatic source of conflict turned into a really engaging first introduction to the characters in dispatch.

9-1-1 Nashville Episode 6 ends on an exciting cliffhanger.

Blythe in 9-1-1 Nashville Episode 6

9-1-1 Nashville Episode 6 ends on an exciting cliffhanger. A hacker takes over all the city systems, triggering every alert, sending a river tour boat on a collision course with a bridge, and Blythe is in a dire situation after her horse gets spooked. Considering the last we saw of Edward, he left on a vague threat to Don, could this hack be in part due to him?

There’s not much to know about Edward, but Matheson plays him, so there’s always something sinister going on with his characters. Whatever the cause, we’ll have to wait until January to see a conclusion.

9-1-1 Nashville Episode 6 does some good character work, and even better campy family drama.

9-1-1: Nashville Episode 6 is streaming now on Disney+ and Hulu. Season 1 will return Jan. 8, 2026.
