BL stories are becoming more mainstream, and that means some of the best manga and manhwa are getting live-action adaptations. The latest is 10Dance, which hits Nextlif in December 2025. The 10Dance live-action follows two professional ballroom dancers who are brought together through competition and fall in love in the process.

The 10Dance live-action is directed by Keishi Otomo and is adapted for the screen by Otomo and Tomoko Yoshida. Although the film’s announcement was made some time ago, we had not seen much since the initial casting announcement.

Now, Netflix has released the first 10Dance live-action trailer and new key art that highlights the dynamic duo’s rivalry and romance.

“This film challenges us to explore the depths of love and its capacity,” Director Otomo shares. “When two people dance passionately together, they become so in sync that it feels as if they transform into something greater, transcending boundaries with hidden emotions and passions. With Ryoma Takeuchi and Keita Machida, we aim to deliver a glamorous and fresh dance film that captivates audiences.”

What is the 10Dance live-action about?

Based on Inouesatoh’s acclaimed manga 10DANCE, which was serialized in Kodansha’s Young Magazine and localized in English by Kodansha USA. The story follows two men consumed by the world of competitive dance — driven by passion, rivalry, jealousy, and desire.

Shinya Suzuki is the Japanese champion of Latin Dance. Suzuki is intense and disciplined; he’s a perfectionist devoted to dominating local competitions. Shinya Sugiki is the Japanese champion and second-ranked dancer in the world in the Standard Ballroom category. Sugiki surprises Suzuki with a challenge to enter the 10-Dance — a grueling competition that combines both Latin and Ballroom styles.

Pride clashes and bodies entwine as two polar opposites are drawn together by love and breathtaking dance. Inouesatoh’s hit manga “10 DANCE” depicts the passion, anguish, jealousy and love shared between two men wholly devoted to dance. Now, this sweetly stimulating story of dance and love between two men is being adapted into a live-action Netflix Film!

The trailer opens with graceful yet tense dance scenes that capture Suzuki and Sugiki’s fierce rivalry. Netflix also shared that the film’s leads have undergone months of intensive training in order to bring raw authenticity and chemistry to their performances, while also focusing on technical precision. That said, if the trailer is anything to judge by, the duo’s talent for dance has also helped create an intimacy that comes from being perfectly in sync.

How to read 10Dance?

The manga was released and localized in English by Kodansha USA and is currently available from all online and in-store booksellers. The BL series consists of seven volumes, each ranging from 194 to 230 pages. The series was created by Inouesatoh, who was involved in the live-action film’s production.

In a comment to Netflix, they said, “Initially, I felt anxious about the adaptation, fearing it would be impossible without a significant budget and talented team. However, knowing Netflix and Director Otomo are involved eased my worries. The casting of Mr. Takeuchi and Mr. Machida is perfect, capturing the essence of the characters. I am confident they will express the sensuality and joy beyond the manga, and I eagerly await the film’s completion.”
