Viki Announces 3 New KDrama Originals Coming To The Platform

The major destination for Asian entertainment, announced new Viki Original K-drama series, including the historical revenge drama Moon River, starring Kang Tae Oh and Kim Se Jeong, and the emotional drama Last Summer, led by Lee Jae Wook. The streaming platform also secured the highly anticipated thriller Dear X, featuring Kim You Jung and Kim Young Dae as an exclusive for viewers in the U.S., Latin America, and Europe.

Jaehee Hong, SVP of Content at Rakuten Viki, stated that the company remains committed to “high-quality content”  offering this comment in a release to press.

Moon River, Last Summer, and Dear X are fine examples of rich, creative storytelling that we are sure will resonate with viewers who are K-drama fans as well as those that are new to the genre.”

If you’re unfamiliar, Rakuten Viki has long been one of the leading providers of Asian Entertinament. With Korean television staples and new originals from China and Japan, as well as more, Viki Original programming just keeps expanding. 

Last Summer

Viki Original - Moon River

This new series enters on the relationship between twins Baek Do Ha and Baek Do Yeong, played by Lee Jae Wook, who are raised on separate continents following their parents’ divorce.

The twins only spend three weeks together each summer. They also befriend their neighbor, Song Ha Gyeong. As adults, the siblings lose touch with Ha Gyeong. However, after tragedy strikes, Do Ha must reveal a painful truth to her.

Moon River

Viki Original - Moon River

One of Viki’s newest Originals, tells a tale of historical intrigue and vengeance set in the Joseon era. The plot follows Crown Prince Lee Gang, played by Kang Tae Oh, after his wife is executed due to a politically motivated death sentence.

Lee Gang vows to take revenge on those responsible for the order. His plan is complicated when he encounters a traveling merchant named Park Dal I, played by Kim Se Jeong, who bears an exact resemblance to the deceased crown princess. A mysterious connection causes the two to exchange bodies, escalating the chaos surrounding the prince’s plot.

  • Kang Tae Oh as Crown Prince Lee Gang (also seen in Extraordinary Attorney Woo)
  • Kim Se Jeong as Park Dal I (also seen in Business Proposal)

Moon River will debut on November 7, 2025. 

Dear X

A Viki exclusive, this new series a thriller focused on the deceptive life of actress Baek Ah Jin. Beneath her glamorous public image, Ah Jin hides a past marred by abuse. This past taught her to manipulate the emotions of others, which she uses to enact revenge on those she considers her enemies. 

She places her trust only in her lifelong confidant, Yoon Joon Seo, but her dangerous games push him to his limit, causing him to question if he is merely another pawn in her schemes.

  • Kim You Jung as Baek Ah Jin (also seen in My Demon)
  • Kim Young Dae as Yoon Joon Seo (also seen in No Gain No Love)
