Prime Video announced today that it has acquired the exclusive global streaming rights for Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26, an upcoming anime anthology series. The series, which adapts eight short stories written by manga artist Tatsuki Fujimoto during his late teens and early twenties, is set to premiere on November 7, 2025. This project will be available to Prime members in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.

While many anime fans are familiar with Fujimoto’s storytelling through Chainsaw Man (adapted by MAPPA) and last year’s feature film Look Back, directed by Kiyotaka Oshiyama, the mangaka has much more to offer.

Look Back is one of the best examples of Fujimoto’s narrative ability when writing short stories, not just continuous ones. His anthologies are currently published and localized in English by VIZ Media. This new series will cover a wide range of genres, topics, and approaches to animation, thanks to Fujimoto’s work, but also the diverse host of creators taking on each episode individually.

“We are thrilled to bring ‘Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26’ to Prime members worldwide,” said Thomas Dubois, Head of French and Japanese Originals at Prime Video in a release to media via the platform’s newsroom.

“Working with an array of talented creators, we’ve brought to life these early short stories that represent the creative origins of Tatsuki Fujimoto, a young Japanese manga artist known for crafting unique worlds and singular narratives like Chainsaw Man and Look Back. We believe this collection of eight exceptional stories, spanning genres from fantasy and action to human drama, will captivate audiences globally with its distinctive storytelling.”

The project brings together seven acclaimed directors, including Tetsuaki Watanabe (Blue Lock), Nobuyuki Takeuchi (Fireworks, Should We See It from the Side or the Bottom?), and Kazuaki Terasawa (The Ancient Magus’ Bride Season 2), along with six leading animation studios: ZEXCS, Lapin Track, GRAPH77, 100studio, Studio Kafka, and P.A.WORKS.

What is Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 about?

Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 anime still from Prime Video

The series is an adaptation of short stories from the visionary creator behind the popular manga series Fire Punch, Chainsaw Man, and Look Back, Tatsuki Fujimoto. The anime series will release as eight distinctive stories that cover a wide range of genres and themes based on his one-shots.

“Having my works from my student years being adapted into anime made me anxious, wondering if this was really okay, and if these works might have relied too heavily on others’ inspiration.” said Tatsuki Fujimoto, creator of the original manga, in a release to press. “However, although I haven’t seen them yet, I believe that through the work of talented directors, they have become proper, well-crafted pieces.”

The title of the series is akin to the titles of his anthology manga, which are published under: Tatsuki Fujimoto Before Chainsaw Man: 17–21 and Tatsuki Fujimoto Before Chainsaw Man: 22–26 as you may tell from the condensing of the title. This series will encompass every chapter from Fujimoto’s already published works. This leaves Goodbye Eri as the last of his works to be adapted into anime.
