Lee Jun-ho expressed his enthusiasm for the project, sharing with the Netflix Newsroom, “After King the Land, I’m thrilled to return with Typhoon Family. I hope this story brings laughter, comfort, and genuinely resonates with you. It’s about rising with those you love, finding strength in unexpected places, and reconnecting with times gone by. I can’t wait for you to experience the 90s nostalgia and emotional journey with us.”

What is the synopsis of Typhoon Family?

Typhoon Family is a coming-of-age drama that delves into a pivotal era in South Korean history. The story follows Kang Tae-poong, a young man from the affluent “Orange Tribe” of the 1990s whose carefree life is upended when he unexpectedly becomes the CEO of a struggling trading company. This sudden shift forces him to abandon his privileged lifestyle and confront the harsh realities of survival.

His journey is intertwined with that of Oh Mi-seon, a resilient and determined bookkeeper who embodies the quintessential eldest daughter, shouldering the burden of her family’s needs while pursuing her career in a male-dominated world.

Kim Min-ha added, “I’m honored to play Oh Mi-seon. Typhoon Family was created with heart — from the cast to every member of the production team. I hope viewers not only watch but feel each moment — youth, hope, hardship, and triumph. Please join us on this unforgettable ride through the emotional and memorable scenes we’ve created.”

Typhoon Family aims to be a reflection of the ordinary people who found strength in community and pushed forward when everything seemed lost.
