At this point, a new month means a new K-pop collaboration in the news section of the site, and as an avid listener of most of the announced bands and idols, I’m living for it. This time, KRAFTON announced a global collaboration between PUBG: Battlegrounds and PUBG MOBILE, with G-Dragon.

Right in the middle of his comeback world tour, G-Dragon (who is affiliated with Galaxy Corporation), is coming to the game later this month and may inspire you to hit download too. Both on his new music and on the game.

The announcement kicked off in September and marks a significant event for both titles. They will simultaneously collaborate with an artist on a global scale for the first time. Previously, the franchise has worked with K-pop acts like aespa (who were featured in the publisher’s Battlegrounds title) and BLACKPINK, joining the Mobile title. This partnership bridges the worlds of music and gaming, putting the rapper at the center of the popular battle royale series.

But you may be wondering, what acts have been featured in games? This follows up on Capcom’s collaboration with aespa for Street Fighter 6. Aespa has joined BTS’s Min Yoongi (SUGA), who collaborated with Halsey for Diablo IV, Le Sserafim, who helped launch Overwatch 2, G(i)dle, New Jeans, and TWICE, who have all collaborated with RIOT’s League of Legends, Enhypen’s Pokémon collab. While BTS’s Kim Seok-jin (Jin), who collaborated with MapleStory, Dreamcatcher’s time with King’s Raid, and Stray Kids’ item featured in NBA 2K24, and Solo Leveling’s collab with i-DLE, and many more.

What does the G-Dragon x PUBG collaboration bring to the games?

The collaboration was first teased on August 31, 2025, during G-Dragon’s concert in Las Vegas, where a surprise video was revealed on stage. This teaser officially identifies him as the central figure of the project.

In PUBG Mobile, players can look forward to the collaboration launching on September 19, 2025, which will bring exclusive content to the battlegrounds. Please stay tuned for more details. In Korea, a special PUBG offline event will take place in Seongsu, Seoul, while other on-site events for fans worldwide are also planned.

One of the exciting aspects of K-pop collaborations, especially with idols and artists who have been active for longer periods, is that new audiences can discover their work. Where Squid Game Season 2 brought American viewers to TOP, another BigBang rapper, video games can also reach new audiences.

Kwon Ji-yong performs under the stage name G-Dragon and has been active in the Korean music industry since 2006 as the leader of BigBang, and a member of the rap line.

Like many group-based artists, he began releasing his solo projects in 2009 with “Heartbreaker,” a good starting point for exploring his music. But he’s not just a rapper. He’s also written or co-written 24 number one songs on the Gaon Digital Chart, most of which he has also co-produced. The artist also has eight MAMA Awards, six Melon Music Awards, two Korean Music Awards, and two Golden Disc Awards, and is the first and only solo artist to receive the MAMA Award for Artist of the Year in 2013.

The G-Dragon PUBG: Battlegrounds and PUBG: Mobile event begins September 19, 2025.
