If you’ve been wise enough to try out Strange Scaffold’s I Am Your Beast now that it’s available on Xbox Game Pass, you might be looking for a similarly fast-paced shooter to keep up the momentum. Xbox Game Pass has a large library of shooters. Xbox classics like Halo and Gears of War are always stalwarts of the platform, while major players like the Battlefield and Call of Duty franchises have a large swath of their libraries available on console and PC.

If you like I Am Your Beast, check out these fast-paced shooters next on Xbox Game Pass.

Fast-paced shooters like I Am Your Beast differ from the more common multiplayer shooters, military simulators, or tactical shooters. Levels are short, precision is essential, and death is inevitable. Additionally, they’re crafted with great care by independent studios that have taken the time to infuse a distinct style into each game, setting them apart from the pack. Whether you come to games like I Am Your Beast for the tight timetables or the pinpoint accurate shootouts, these three more fast-paced shooters will serve you well next.

Doom: The Dark Ages

Developer: id Software
Publisher: Bethesda

Doom: The Dark Ages is the most recent in a storied series of first-person shooters. The original Doom practically invented the genre in the early ’90s, alongside Wolfenstein 3D. This entry in the series is the fastest-paced yet. Face hordes of demons who explode as you slay them across a futuristic-medieval fantasy realm.

The game’s new parry system, its big shotguns and rapidfire slaughter machines, and the need to constantly keep moving or die keep Doom: The Dark Ages players on their toes. While accuracy is not very important in this game, and there are no time limits like in the others, the satisfying feeling of sprinting across battlefields to slay enemies is always satisfying. The tactical forethought that goes into picking the right weapon and upgrade combo to fight the right enemy is a bonus, too.

Mullet Madjack

Developer: HAMMER95
Publisher: Epopeia Games

If your favorite part of I Am Your Beast is the timer, then Mullet Madjack is absolutely for you. Mullet Madjack is a super stylish, fast-paced roguelike shooter where you fight your way up a tower on a revenge mission against grotesque cyborgs. You only have 10 seconds to clear a floor, regaining slivers of time with every kill. The more stylish, the more time you get back.

Upgrades and weapon choices after each floor help you survive longer, whether playing the story or in endless mode. The higher the difficulty, the more specific your kills have to be to regain time, and the more time you lose when you take damage. It’s a mad dash to the end of every floor that requires exceptional precision if you want to get the headshots required to survive the highest difficulties.

Superhot: Mind Control Delete

Publisher: Superhot Team

If you like the out-there narrative and creative storytelling mechanism in I Am Your Beast, Superhot: Mind Control Delete is another fast-paced shooter with a unique approach to story. The two games also share an affinity for killing enemies, picking up their weapons, and throwing them when it’s the fastest way to get the next guy.

Both games get quite hard as you progress. Superhot, however, is not time-based. The world moves in slo-mo if you stand still, allowing you to dodge bullets mid-air. But as soon as you move, the world comes up to full speed with you. Plus, rewind time to avoid hits or reset your approach. Just know that Superhot is a roguelike, so every retry is a little different. But there are only so many weapons with so many bullets, so you need to be creative to make it through each level.

There are plenty of shooters on Xbox Game Pass, but nothing hits like a fast-paced shooter. Fortunately, the service has a great lineup of them to keep you watching the timer and aiming carefully.

I Am Your Beast is available now on Xbox Game Pass.
