Publisher Critical Reflex and developer TALLBOYS showcased a new gameplay trailer for their fantastical immersive sim, Militsioner, during Gamescom’s Future Games Show. The teams also announced that a new open playtest is now live on Steam, allowing players to explore the game’s dynamic clockwork town as they try to outwit the colossal policeman.
What is Militsioner?
In Militsioner, players must find a way to escape a surreal town under the constant surveillance of a gigantic policeman. Every move you make, from stealing to vandalism, is monitored.
As noted on the game’s Steam page, every character in the game, including the lawbringer, is equipped with a tamagochi-like mood system. The Dialogue system is developed to be reactive and has free phrase selection.
But remember, it’s always about stealth since the town is constantly watching. If you get on their bad side, the police could get involved. But always remember, they hate you as much as they hate the Giant. Everyone, from cars and trains to people and Giants, has their own life schedules, which makes time a larger factor than you’d expect in the game.
Key Game Features
In addition to the new Militsioner trailer, TALLBOYS also shared new gameplay details, listed below:
- You’re Always Being Watched: You can run, but you can’t hide from the Militsioner. Everything you do is monitored – from stealing to vandalism to being a menace to the local townsfolk.
- Judgment Is Inevitable: There will be moments where you’ll have to decide what kind of person you are – and the town responds accordingly. Maybe you can build goodwill through meaningful conversations and have the townsfolk assist you. Or perhaps you’re more likely to use people as pawns to achieve your goals. Either way, the town always remembers.
- There’s No Such Thing As A Simple Escape: This immersive sim isn’t for the faint of heart. You’ll need to learn the lay of the land, wait until the Militsioner is at his most vulnerable, and put your escape plan into action. But be warned. The consequences of a failed scheme could cost more than you’re willing to pay.
What is the release date?
While the open playtest is live now on Steam, Critical Reflex and TALLBOYS have not announced a specific release date. Militsioner will release on PC.
