TiMi Studio Group premiered a new trailer for their upcoming multiplayer action RPG, Honor of Kings World, during Gamescom 2025’s Opening Night Live. The trailer offered an in-depth look at the game’s world, puzzles, and battles. The game is an eastern fantasy RPG that dives deep into the universe of Honor of Kings for a new global audience.

“We’ve been working very hard on Honor of Kings: World, and Opening Night Live was the perfect moment to give players a true taste of what’s ahead,” said Big Huang, lead combat designer for Honor of Kings: World. “Now we can’t wait for visitors to Gamescom to get hands-on with the game themselves.”

During GDC 2025, we got the chance to go hands-on and interview the developers, and it immediately shot to the top of our anticipated list. Our hands-on preview reads, “Honor of Kings World is an exciting expansion on a successful IP and will surely capture players, just like its other titles in the franchise have. While the combat takes some learning, the time to master it is small, and the reward for exploring which combat builds and styles resonate with you is an exciting satisfaction.”

What is Honor of Kings World?

In Honor of Kings: World, players take on the role of a new student at Jixia Academy, a renowned institution for gifted individuals. You will meet fellow students, mentors, and legendary heroes as you uncover the mysteries of the Wonders and “the Flow”—a unique energy source that shapes the land’s story.

Game Features
  • Dynamic Multiplayer Combat: Seamlessly switch between two unique fighting styles mid-battle.
  • Shared World Activities: Engage in crafting, house building, and world exploration across the continent of Primaera.
  • Lore-Rich Storytelling: Embark on narrative-driven adventures alongside iconic heroes from the original Honor of Kings.

The trailer showcased the breathtaking landscapes of Primaera, the variety of challenges players will face, and the fast-paced, style-switching combat at the heart of the game’s action.

The reveal is the latest milestone for the game, which will be playable for the first time on the Gamescom 2025 show floor. Attendees can take part in a hands-on PC demo with mouse-and-keyboard and controller support, for the first time.

Bringing Honor of Kings to Western Audiences

Honor of Kings is already an established IP and one of the most widely played mobile titles in the world. But it still hasn’t taken off in the United States just yet despite its vignette in Prime Video’s Secret Level. At GDC, we also had the chance to speak with Simen Lv, Lead Designer at TiMi Studio Group on Honor of Kings World about bringing Eastern fantasy and Chinese mythology to folks who may not know about it.

Simen Lv explained, “We are seeing more and more works based on our culture. We are one of them. What we try to do in our game is take the best of our history and mythology and make it more popular [with a new audience]. We want to make it more accessible while [still] keeping the essence of it. The more we do this, the better we do it, the more naturally it will be introduced to a broader audience.”

“I think stories are universal, and you don’t need a lot of explanations to enjoy them,” Simen Lv explained when asked what he hopes players will take away from the game when it launches. Right now,” he continued, “we’re just getting started in the international market, so we’re still learning what people like and how it differs from the local market. What we really want to do is introduce our culture and see how people respond to it. Then, we can gather feedback and keep improving from there,” he added.

With the Honor of Kings World now leaving behind closed-door sessions and being playable at gamescom, it will be exciting to see who picks up the game and who adds it immediately to their wishlist. You can read the rest of our interview here and see why this is one of our most anticipated games of the year.

What is the Honor of Kings: World release date?

TiMi Studio Group hasn’t yet given audiences the release date for Honor of Kings: World. However, we now have a release window sometime in 2025 on PC and consoles.
