Netflix Drops First Teaser for Troll 2, Sequel to Global Smash Hit

Netflix has officially released the first teaser trailer for Troll 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the Norwegian film Troll, which remains the streamer’s most-watched non-English film of all time. The new footage offers an initial look into the next chapter of the saga, set to premiere globally on Netflix on December 1st of this year.

Director Roar Uthaug expressed his pride in the original film’s global reach, speaking to Netflix’s newsroom, “I am beyond proud of how audiences around the globe connected with the first Troll film far beyond what we imagined. With the sequel, we are aiming high – expanding the scope, deepening the story, and creating a troll-sized spectacle like you’ve never seen before. I cannot wait for fans to experience the adventure we have in store.”

Troll 2 Neflix Film

Based on Norwegian folklore, the original Troll currently holds the record as Netflix’s most popular non-English film, boasting 103 million views to date. This installment promises higher stakes and deadlier threats as returning fan-favorites Nora, Andreas, and Captain Kris confront a terrifying new troll. This creature is described as more ruthless and destructive, unleashing chaos across Norway.

Producers Espen Horn and Kristian Strand Sinkerud commented on the challenge of a sequel, noting, “It’s always daunting to do a sequel but we truly feel that this time, we’ve created an even better, bigger, funnier, and more adventurous film – if that’s even possible!”

What can we expect from Troll 2?

When a dangerous new troll is awakened, unleashing devastation across Norway, beloved adventurers Nora, Andreas and Captain Kris are thrust into their most perilous mission yet. To stop the creature’s ruthless rampage, they must enlist new allies and delve into the country’s ancient history, searching for answers. As the clock ticks and the troll’s path of destruction grows wider, our heroes face impossible odds in their fight to save their homeland from falling into darkness.

About the first film, our critic said:

“The film is a large-scale, big-time monster movie that will leave you thoroughly entertained. While it certainly had room for improvement, the debut Netflix film fully grabbed my attention, and now all I want is a sequel or a series of connected films from this studio. With a perfect run time, some superb visuals, and a throughline of some brilliant mythology, Troll deserves to be watched.”

And now, our critic is getting their wish for a Troll 2.

Actress Ine Marie Wilmann, who returns as Nora, shared her excitement: “Diving into the Troll adventure was incredibly fun the first time around, and we were absolutely amazed by its global success. It is with great respect and excitement that I embarked on creating the sequel. I hope and believe that people will enjoy more of what they appreciated last time. We certainly had a fantastic time making Troll 2, and we are really looking forward to sharing it with the world.”
