EA Sports College Football 26 is finally here, and with it comes improved gameplay and even better gameday presentation. While the gameplay itself is a blast, nothing beats taking the reins of the college program of your choice and creating an unbeatable dynasty for years to come. So, picking the best teams in CFB 26 doesn’t always mean the highest star ranking or the team’s OVR.
With most Online Dynasty rules restricting players to teams that can be built from the ground up, potential is really the critical thing to look at. And if you’re playing alone, why not invest in a team you can build instead of one that’s already at the top?
Whether you are creating an online dynasty to show off against your friends or playing solo for personal satisfaction, here are the five best teams in CFB 26 to take over and lead to everlasting glory.

5. Missouri State Bears/Delaware Blue Hens
MISSOURI STATE – OFF: 66 | DEF: 64 | OVR: 65 | Rating: 1 Star
DELAWARE – OFF: 69 | DEF: 66 | OVR: 67 | Rating: 1 Star
What better way to prove your skill at building a dynasty than taking over one of the FBS newcomers? The Fightin’ Blue Hens have won six national championships in their 117-year history, but those all came at the lower levels of the sport. Now that they’ve joined Conference USA, building them into a powerhouse is going to take some real work. They are led by 81-overall running back Jo’Nathan Silver, so you’ll want to lean on the run game early to make the most of his talent.
Missouri State does not have the history that Delaware boasts, but that just makes the challenge more enticing. Shomari Lawrence (81) and Josh Joyner (79) are both solid running backs to start with, but quarterback Jacob Clark (78) is no slouch either. They are rated lower overall than Delaware, but the difference is negligible. Bringing new recruits to Springfield, Missouri, won’t be easy, but if turning them into a powerhouse is a legendary feat.
4. Vanderbilt Commodores
OFF: 84 | DEF: 84 | OVR: 84 | Rating: 2.5 Stars
Vanderbilt has long been the laughingstock of the SEC, but that has slowly been changing in recent years. Led by quarterback Diego Pavia, the Commodores pulled off an impossible upset against Alabama in 2024 and are poised to come back stronger in 2025.
Can you build on that momentum and take Vanderbilt from the cellar of the SEC to the top of the sport? It won’t be easy, but there is plenty to build on with the 84-overall squad. Nail your recruiting, and the sky is the limit for this squad.
3. Hawaii Rainbow Warriors
OFF: 66 | DEF: 71 | OVR: 68 | Rating: 1 Star
Hawaii boasts an A+ Campus Lifestyle rating, and no one can blame players for wanting to soak up the rays in their downtime. The one-star program has struggled in the Mountain West Conference, but a new stadium and talented players, such as the receiver duo of Nick Cenacle (84) and Pofele Ashlock (83), present a mouthwatering opportunity to jumpstart a team seeking to rekindle the glory days of Colt Brennan and the 2007 squad.
2. Duke Blue Devils
OFF: 79 | DEF: 79 | OVR: 79 | Rating: 2 Stars
Duke is well-known as an elite basketball school, but head coach Manny Diaz is doing his best to change that by turning them into a college football powerhouse. The atmosphere at Wallace Wade Stadium is excellent, and the recruiting hotbed of the southeastern United States is ripe for the picking.
Starting year one with cornerback Chandler Rivers (93) and safety Terry Moore (92) gives the Blue Devils the perfect platform to compete for an ACC title and rake in the top recruits, if you can manage a schedule that includes a road trip to conference favorites Clemson.
1. Rice Owls
OFF: 69 | DEF: 71 | OVR: 69 | Rating: 1 Star
When you think about college football in the state of Texas, the Rice Owls probably don’t come to mind. The last time they were nationally relevant was the late 1950s, but there is so much talent to recruit from in Texas that it won’t take much to bring this historic team back to glory.
Running backs Max Balthazar (79) and Quinton Jackson (78) both have two years of eligibility left, so make sure to build around them and try to squeeze out an AAC championship in order to make the most of one of the most talent-rich states.
In our review of CFB 26, we said:
“EA Sports College Football 26 is a step forward in the right direction and builds really well from where CFB 25 left off. There are plenty of quality of life additions from menus and UI to even more sliders and options for players for the various game modes. The gameplay is even better than previous years, offering more authenticity with added bells and whistles, no pun intended. There are still a few areas of improvement that can be made, but there is no sophomore slump for College Football 26.”
