Mike Klubnika, the solo developer of the indie-horror hit Buckshot Roulette, announced the next narrative-driven title, s.p.l.i.t. This short psychological horror game plunges players into the dark world of cybercrime, tasking them with hacking and gaining root access to an unethical superstructure.

About Buckshot Roulette, our critic said in her 9/10 review of the game:

“Buckshot Roulette is an adrenaline-fueled gameplay experience that unfolds roughly under twenty minutes. While surprisingly short, it manages to maintain its twisted, macabre thrill. Luck and odds collide in this high-stakes game where every trigger pulled mounts anticipation and nerves. It feels daunting at first, not knowing what to make of everything.

Once you embrace the absurdity, trying to best The Dealer quickly becomes an engaging experience. Every randomly acquired item becomes a plan with an action that begins to play out aloud from misplaced confidence. Buckshot Roulette holds no storyline whatsoever, but it doesn’t need it. It’s a quick, high-risk, high-reward title you can easily pick up anytime. “

What is s.p.l.i.t?

s.p.l.i.t. from Mike Klubnika

Players will engage in immersive, tactile terminal hacking, using various command-line inputs to interface with the facility. An in-game IRC program lets them chat with fellow technicians to plan and execute a devastating malware attack.

s.p.l.i.t showcases Klubnika’s signature dystopian, low-fi tech visual identity and industrial audio design, which, combined with the unsettling psychological narrative and cerebral puzzles, creates an intensely atmospheric, slow-burn experience where dread creeps in with every keystroke. Players must meticulously plan and maintain unwavering composure to unearth unconscionable secrets and vulnerabilities buried deep within legacy code and engineering.

Key Features

  • Experience first-person gameplay with diegetic and immersive UI.
  • Utilize an IRC chat to gain intel and learn more about the facility.
  • Navigate directories, run software, and execute commands through a terminal.
  • Solve detailed command prompt hacking puzzles with an emphasis on traditional inputs.
  • Immerse yourself in an original soundtrack.

s.p.l.i.t will release on July 24, 2025 on Windows, SteamOS, and Linux.
