Pearl Abyss today revealed an exhilarating new gameplay video from its upcoming open-world action-adventure game, Crimson Desert, showcasing the intense boss battle against Hexe Marie. The new trailer introduces players to a dark and enigmatic adversary in a hauntingly atmospheric setting and showcases Crimson Desert‘s intense combat like the previously shown boss battle videos.

The battle with Hexe Marie, a shadowy figure who defied the sacred laws, takes place in the ominous Smoking Lands. The battlefield, littered with mysterious urns, sets an unsettling tone for the encounter. Players step into the shoes of Kliff, the game’s protagonist, whose entry is seamlessly blended with a cinematic cutscene, enhancing the narrative immersion.

Unlike the previous bosses that Crimson Desert revealed, the Hexe Marie fight is divided into two phases. Players must fend off waves of her summoned minions, resulting in a spectacle of fast-paced and dynamic combat. Kliff showcases powerful, fluid action as he blocks and dodges a variety of enemy attacks and deals devastating damage with powerful skills.

One of the battle’s standout features is Kliff’s use of ice arrows and explosive arrows to immobilize or eliminate swarms of Hexe Earthen Warrior. Players can also experiment with a variety of skills to execute personalized strategies, adding additional depth to the gameplay.

The Hexe Marie video showcases just some of the changes and improvements that were made to the game after its first public hands-on demo at Gamescom 2024, which include updates to the user interface and the target lock system in particular.

Crimson Desert – Hexe Marie Boss Battle Gameplay

The threats of Pywel must be faced. Watch Crimson Desert’s boss battle gameplay footage featuring one of these threats – Hexe Marie. In defiance of the sanctuary’s sacred laws stands Hexe Marie, a follower of darkness. Enraptured by the mesmerizing shadows, she dared to break forbidden taboos and infused darkness even into her own child.

Welcome to the world of Crimson Desert

Crimson Desert is an open-world action-adventure game developed by Pearl Abyss, aiming for a global release on console and PC platforms. Through vibrant storytelling and intense action, Crimson Desert depicts realistic characters and narratives that revolve around the Greymanes fighting to achieve their noble mission. Players will experience the beautiful yet brutal continent of Pywel and witness the conflicts and epic sagas surrounding Kliff, the leader of the Greymanes, as his mission takes him on an unforgettable journey.

Crimson Desert is set in the vast continent of Pywel and depicts the tale of Kliff and his comrades as they fight to fulfill their mission while unravelling the mysteries of a richly detailed world. The game, blending action-adventure with open-world exploration, is set for a simultaneous global release on PC and consoles.

When we played the demo, we had a lot of positives to say, “As a whole, Crimson Desert is strong. Its combat feels fresh and doesn’t allow you to disengage in an extremely exhilarating way.” However, with little news revealed on the game’s release date, players will be left waiting for a little bit.
