As the “Magic n’ Mayhem” set draws to a close, Teamfight Tactics announces its next set, “Into the Arcane.” Inspired by the return of Riot Games popular Netflix series, this set focuses on bringing characters from the series to life, while also adapting characters not associated with the series to its universe. Let’s take a deep dive into what players can expect in the new set when it comes to PBE servers on November 11th (afternoon), and full release on November 20th with Patch 14.23.

The biggest news on the champions front is the inclusion of ten Arcane-specific characters in this set. Never-before-seen personalities like Sevika will be appearing, along with unique versions of familiar faces, like young Vi and Powder. All these new characters make the set feel extra special as they help bring the series’ universe to life in a noteworthy way. And it was no small feat to bring all this new material to Teamfight Tactics as I learned the devs had to start working on designing these new characters roughly a full year in advance.

Here is the full list of champions coming to “Into the Arcane:”

Traits

Into the Arcane Traits

As you’d expect, all of the origins in this set come straight from Arcane.  All of these elements further bring flavor to the set while also bringing the diverse offering of bonuses and abilities players have come to expect. Below is a full list of traits, along with a quick summary of each.

  • Academy: The Academy improves the effects of three random items in each game. Academy characters equipped with these items get double the benefit.
  • Automata: Automata gain crystals when they damage enemies. At 20 crystals they blast their current target, dealing increased magic damage. They also gain armor and magic resistance.
  • Black Rose: Summon a chained Sion who is eventually freed. Sion gets stronger with star count amongst BlackRose units.
  • Chem-Baron: Gain shimmer after each match, with double gained if your loss streak is three or greater. At 100 shimmer the black market grants access to contraband only Chem-Barons can use. Can also gain health by passing on black markets.
  • Conqueror: Conquerors gain stacks of conquest for each takedown they achieve. Enough stacks grant access to war chests full of loot. They also gain AD and AP for each war chest opened.
  • Emissary: This trait is only active when you have one or four emissaries. Your team gains a special buff from each unique emissary.
  • Enforcer: At the start of combat, enforcers gain a shield and damage amp. A target also becomes marked. Once defeated, enforcers gain an attack speed boost.
  • Experiment: You gain lab hexes on your board. Experiments that start in those hexes gain a health buff, plus a special bonus determined by which other experiments are standing in lab hexes.
  • Family: Reduce their max mana and gain extra bonuses.
  • Firelight: Every 6 seconds, Firelights dash. While dashing, they attack with infinite range and heal a percentage of the damage taken since their last dash.
  • High Roller (Sevika Only): When casting, Sevika rolls a random Jinx modification to her Ability and gains 80% Durability for 1.50 seconds.
  • Junker King (Rumble Only): Every 3 rounds, open an armory to purchase permanent upgrades to your strongest Rumble’s mech.
  • Rebels: Rebels gain max health and after losing 30% of their health gain attack speeed and damage buffs.
  • Scrap: At the start of combat, components held by Scrap units temporarily turn into full items. Scrap units gain Shield for 30 seconds for each component held by your team, including those that make up a full item.
  • Ambusher: Damage from Ambushers’ abilities can critically strike. They also gain bonus critical strike chance and critical strike damage.
  • Artillerist: Every 5 attacks, Artillerists launch a rocket that deals 125% Attack Damage around the target. They also gain Attack Damage.
  • Bruiser: Your team gains 100 max Health. Bruisers gain more.
  • Dominator: At the start of combat dominators gain a shield. They also gain stacking ability power on each cast.
  • Form Swapper: Form swappers gain durability or damage amp depending on if they start in your front two or back two rows.
  • Pit Fighter: Pit Fighters gain 15% omnivamp and deal bonus true damage. Once per combat at 50% health, they heal a percentage of their max health over 2 seconds.
  • Quickstriker: Quickstrikers move faster and gain Attack Speed, based on their target’s missing Health.
  • Sentinel: Your team gains armor and magic resistance. Sentinels gain triple.
  • Sniper: Snipers deal more damage to targets farther away.
  • Sorceror: Your team gains 10 Ability Power. Sorcerers gain more.
  • Visionary: Whenever Visionaries gain mana, they gain more.
  • Watcher: Watchers gain Durability, increased while above 50% Health.

New Set Mechanic: The Anomaly

Into the Arcane Anomaly

Appearing in Stage 4-6 of each game, The Anomaly offers a special ability to one unit the player places within it. The ability can be rerolled for one gold and will permanently be on the strongest version of the player’s character for the remainder of the game. Even if accidentally sold, when repurchased, the character will still have the bonus.  With sixty possible abilities to gain and the anomaly arriving late enough in the game for players to have their builds locked in, utilizing the right upgrades to enhance their team is a critical part of the strategy in “Into the Arcane.”

Augments

Over one hundred new augments are coming in the new set. These include some that interact with the new Anomaly game mechanic and the return of champion augments. It’s important to note that to improve game balance, the Developers said champion augments will be less emphasized this time around.

Much like how the last set introduced Hero Augemnts, “Into the Arcane” introduces a similar twist in Team up augments, providing bonuses for fielding a pair of heroes. This further adds another wrinkle to team building as players must decide if they want to try to chase a powerful duo.

New Item Bench

Items will now appear in a side panel on the player’s screen, with up to twenty slots available. This will make selecting items and components easier. Also, items can now be sold directly from the panel. These quality-of-life improvements aim to help the player’s experience run more smoothly.

Tocker’s Trails

Tocker’s Trails is returning. Bringing new, Arcane-themed challenges, this mode promises something new for players. While there is much to enjoy for long-time players, the devs said they also intend the mode to be a good on-ramp for new players. So if you or a friend have ever been curious about jumping into this deep auto battler, this mode is the perfect way to get started.

New Cosmetics

Into the Arcane Cosmetics

Big news on the cosmetics front for “Into the Arcane.” Along with new chibis for Firelight Ekko, Arcane Vi, and Arcane Caitlyn, the devs announced a new tactician style: Unbound. Unbound is a new design style that is intended for champions who don’t lend themselves to the chibi look. Coming to this set is Arcane Jinx. Her finisher recreates the ending of Arcane Season One and sports animations that deliver on Jinx’s less-than-stable personality.

The new board in this set is the “Down to the Last Drop” board. It not only brings players to the iconic Last Drop bar, but the bar also changes as the game progresses, capturing the establishment’s alterations throughout the show.

And there you have it. All the biggest things coming to the newest Teamfight Tactics set, “Into the Arcane.” May all your shop rerolls be good!
