Final Fantasy XIV Is Refocusing On Multiplayer Experience With Dawntrail

During the Journey to Dawntrail: The 10 Year Adventure of Final Fantasy XIV panel at Bston’s PAX East Producer & Director Naoki Yoshida brought players through the storied journey to create one of the most beloved MMOs. Not only that we also learned more about Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail from the release date and more. While the 6.0 patches for Endwalker prioritized making solo players comfortable, Final Fantasy XVI: Dawntrail is focusing on developing further as an MMORPG. As Yoshida explained, that means focusing on the multiplayer experience this time around.

Dawntrail is going to refocus the MMO on its genre roots by redgiing the multiplayer gameplay, adding more large-scale duties and “creating a fulfilling gaming experience.” That gaming experience element is key. Adding larger duties in the vein of Eureka is one way that Yoshida noted, but the other is changing up the gameplay elements of each duty.

Yoshida pointed out during the presentation that the large enemy hitbox and the uses of the same battle mechanics across each duty can make everything feel like a pattern from content to content. With the Dawntrail release, the goal is to not be mundane.

Additionally, Yoshida explained that the developer team has wanted to expand player reward amount but haven’t been able to. Now, by Patch 7.3, Yoshida hopes to increase the amount of player rewards that you’ll be able to get  from each event.

And of course, we learned about the Collector’s Edition of the game:

  • Physical Collector’s Edition will feature a Viper figure, an adventureer’s cloth map, The Unending Journey notebook, the adventurer’s pen case, Dawntrail special art box.
  • For players who want to by the Digital Collector’s Edition will come with new mount, Ark. Wind-up Garnet Minion Chocobo Brush will be the cosmetic weapon for the new Pictomancer job being added in DawnTrail.

PAX East Boston also featured a panel on Final Fantasy XVI: The Rising Tide to prepare players for what’s coming up. And in Final Fantasy XIV, the new crossover questline will begin in-game from April 2, 2024 to May 8, 2024.

If you’re looking to dedicate your summer to the Elden Ring DLC, don’t worry, you have a week. Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail will go into Early Acces June 28, 2024 and will have a full release on July 2, 2024.

Pre-orders will begin March 26, 2024 starting at 9:00 am PDT.
