The mystery continues to unravel in LINK CLICK (Shiguang Daili Ren) and LINK CLICK Season 2 Episode 7 wastes no time jumping headfirst back into the chaos. Li Tianxi has escaped police custody with Cheng Xiaoshi and police officer Wang Juan in tow while Chief Xiao Li tries to figure out how they managed to escape. Lu Guang remains in his hospital bed recovering, but it’s about time he re-enters the fray as well.

One consistent thread for this season of LINK CLICK is that it has more-or-less abandoned the “case of the week” approach. Instead, each episode starts off by revealing answers to the cliffhanger shown in the previous episode by going back in time a bit and then ending with a new cliffhanger for viewers to hang on to. It’s a consistent approach that continues in LINK CLICK Season 2 Episode 7 as Li Tianxi’s escape plan is shown while still in the planning stages. Qian Jing, a mysterious figure whose ultimate role is still to be uncovered, is the one who helped Tianxi plan the escape which demonstrates the instrumental part he plays in the background. I’m hoping to see more of his role and importance revealed as the season continues, but for now he still remains quite mysterious.

A big change in LINK CLICK Season 2 Episode 7 is that the opening credit sequence has changed just a bit, with both Li Tianxi and her brother Li Tianchen having their faces revealed. They have already been shown in the season, so it’s not a completely new reveal, but the way they are shown does give a bit of foreshadowing as to how they fit in comparison to Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang’s complimenting powers. There is still a lot more to potentially be uncovered here, so seeing them in full during the opening sequence teases an epic showdown to end the season at some point over the next few episodes.

LINK CLICK Season 2 Episode 7 is a heart-racing episode from start to finish. There is so much suspense as Xiao Li tries to chase down Li Tianxi. He comes across Wang Juan who was left handcuffed to a pole and she reveals that there is still a tracker on Cheng Xiaoshi. That tracker and other listening devices have been a sticking point in Cheng Xiaoshi’s interactions with Li Tianxi and he had previously claimed he had no more of these devices on him. Li Tianxi’s discovery of it puts another damper on their relationship, although Cheng Xiaoshi’s reaction to her discovery does build more intrigue as to how their relationship will ultimately play out. I’m not so sure it’s entirely a “hero vs. villains” storyline as there is definitely more than meets the eye to Li Tianxi. It’s possible she is not entirely evil. Other forces like Qian Jing could be having a much bigger impact than realized, but the suspense carried over in LINK CLICK Season 2 Episode 7 makes it so we still don’t know the full truth, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.

LINK CLICK Season 2 Episode 7 - But Why Tho

Given that the episode is titled “Urban Warfare”, it’s fitting that there is some truly epic action taking place. Both Xiao Li and Wang Juan are confronted in the street and attacked. Xiao Li manages to defeat a man almost twice his size in fast-paced action matched up to equally high-energy music. Once he does though, he is told he can’t catch up to Li Tianxi and Cheng Xiaoshi and should focus on helping Wang Juan instead. Wang Juan had been holding her own against a swarm of armed attackers, but her battle ends in a disappointing manner before Xiao Li can arrive on the scene. Her ending is brutally sad, but also makes her character feel wasted. She didn’t really have enough time to grow into anything more than another reason for Xiao Li to feel the weight of his coworkers’ deaths, but this one did not hit nearly as hard as Chen Bin’s.

Lu Guang arrives back on the scene just in time and it seems like he might be able to save Cheng Xiaoshi. Of course, since the episode ends on a cliffhanger, it’s hard to know if he will actually be successful. Still, the fact that he was able to escape from his hospital room and steal a boat to head after Cheng Xiaoshi all while recovering from near-deadly stabbing wounds is impressive. It also shows the lengths he is willing to go to in order to rescue someone he cares so deeply about.

LINK CLICK Season 2 Episode 7 is full of mystery as well as high-energy action that continues to move the plot forward in interesting ways. There is still so much yet to be revealed, but every new episode uncovers just enough of the plot to keep things from getting stale.

LINK CLICK Season 2 Episode 7 is streaming now on Crunchyroll with new episodes every Friday this Summer Anime season.
