Game Dev Tycoon developers, Greenheart Games have announced that they are swapping the hectic world of game development simulation for the hectic world of tavern management simulation with Tavern Keeper during the Future of Games Show. A decade in the making, Tavern Keeper combines a charming management simulation, a creative decoration sandbox, and a humorous choose-your-own-path storybook.

A good tavern is a place for peasants, rogues, and heroes to rub elbows, rest, and plan their next daring adventure. But what of the unsung heroes behind it all: the tavern keepers? Start out from scratch in the forgotten backwaters of the kingdom, and get building your own unique inn — bartering, cooking, and cleaning your way to success in an eccentric fantasy world.

Tavern Keeper is a business management simulation and interactive story set in a whimsical world where you can never be sure who will walk through your tavern’s doors next. A good tavern is the heart and soul of a community, and how it’s designed can change with every play. Just be careful not to spin too many plates.

In Tavern Keeper, players will build, decorate, and manage day-to-day life through peculiar situations and handling customers. You will make your way through a humorous and interactive story where you will open taverns across a fantasy world full of diverse and intriguing characters. But that’s not all. Players will also experience a detailed world with different staff personalities, temperature simulations, dirt, furniture breakages, larder spoilage, fires, and dozens of other small systems to keep you on your toes. But if it gets to be too much, you can leave the hard work behind and get decorating. The super-freeform yet easy-to-learn Design Mode gives you full control over how your tavern looks.

Tavern Keeper is announced to come to PC via Steam in 2024.
