Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO, is the second film in the Dragon Ball Super franchise, will premiere on August 19 in the United States. There has been a lot of buzz around the film since its initial announcement and trailer dropped. Ahead of the upcoming release of Dragon Ball Ball Super: SUPER HERO, we got the chance to sit down with the English dub cast, Kyle Hebert, the voice of Gohan, Aleks Le, and Zeno Robinson, who voice Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 respectively.

To kick things off, Robinson and Le shared what it feels like to join such a prolific franchise. Robinson said, “I think like a lot with the foundation of shows like this one like dragon ball, of course, is a legendary franchise, and a lot of us grew up with it. No matter our entry points, all of us here entered this franchise at some point as a fan.” He added, “To be able to kind of join something so foundational to me. I remember while recording the movie and being like, ‘I am talking to Piccolo right now! Like was it is absolutely insane. So that is an incredible honor to be able to establish a voice of a new character to join the ranks in that way. This is an incredible honor as well.”

Le also talked about how honored he felt to be joining the Dragon Ball family, “For me jumping into such a legacy of a franchise is truly an honor. Also, I have always been a fan of many of these series we get to work on. So, having the creative freedom to take on a brand new character is always refreshing. It gives us as artists and actors a lot less pressure when it comes to fulfilling the shoes of someone else’s character that came before us.”

Dragon Ball Super Super Hero But Why Tho

Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO puts the spotlight on Gohan, something fans have not seen since the Cell and Buu Saga. In many ways, the film feels like a love letter to Gohan fans who have wanted to see the character get more focus in the franchise. Hebert shared what it means for his character to be in the spotlight in this film and how he hopes fans will react:

“I have been voicing this character in the voiceover industry for twenty-two years, so been waiting a long time for Gohan to have a little more screen time. I usually tell people we are waiting for Gohan to be great again. This film presents an opportunity for that, so yeah, voicing the character. I am absolutely excited and thrilled and very happy to see what the fan reaction will be.”

And that was just the start of the conversation. The trio discuss the film’s new animation, working together, and what they hope fans can take away from the new film. For more about the film, the characters, Crunchyroll Expo 2022, and more watch the full interview below.
