Love After World Domination Episode 7

Love After World Domination is a romantic comedy anime produced by Project No. 9. With their trip to the beach being an explosive success, it’s back to the daily grind of work. But when Diago (Green Gelato) learns that Fudo is dating Desumi, he goes into shock. Why does he seem terrified of the woman? What traumatizing event lurks in his past that concerns the Reaper Queen? This is the focus of Love After World Domination Episode 7.

This week’s entry delves deep into Desumi’s backstory in a hilarious look back at her early years of training to be the badass the show has long since established her to be. From the moment the viewer is taken back in time to when a middle school-aged Desumi stepped into the dojo where Diago was training, Love After World Domination Episode 7 sees her throwing around her would-be sensei with shocking ease.

The trauma that Diago bears from the frequent thrashings of his former student is played in a way that never feels at odds with the over-the-top nature of the story. However, what Diago decides to do with the knowledge that Desumi is in Tokyo is something surprising.

After the first half of the episode’s deep dive into the past, the back half of Love After World Domination Episode 7 sees Diago and Fudo meet up with Desumi at a restaurant. Here Diago catches up with his former protege and makes his surprising decision.

Much like the first half of the episode, this sequence focuses squarely on the humor as Diago grapples with his terror over being confronted by Desumi again. The juxtaposition of this tall, strong, and highly skilled combatant shaking like a leaf at the presence of the sweet-hearted and diminutive Desumi is sure to elicit smiles from viewers.

With more and more people becoming aware of their budding relationship, even if they don’t know all the details, Desumi begins to worry that they are growing too relaxed with their secret. This presents a potential change to how the couple behaves, assuming either has the willpower to carry it out.

The most impactful story moment in Love After World Domination Episode 7 comes just as the episode wraps up. I won’t give spoilers, but someone is definitely curious about our happy couple, and the way the show frames this moment doesn’t look like their intentions are innocent.

The animation does a fantastic job of leaning into the over-the-top moments that fill the backstory of this episode. Desumi, as a middle schooler, is just as adorable as one would expect, and seeing her cute self throwing punches and kicks is almost too cute to handle.

So, when all is said and done, Love After World Domination Episode 7 delivers a story filled with laughter and cute moments while simultaneously setting up the happy couple’s next challenge. While I have my suspicions about where this story will go next, I look forward to finding out.

Love After World Domination Episode 7 is streaming now on Crunchyroll.
