Platinum End is a dark fantasy shonen anime produced by Signal.MD. With Revel increasing his angel level, Saki got her own set of wings and quickly left to save Nanato and Mirai. Upon arriving at the scene, she shot Hajime with a red arrow, causing him to fall in love with her. Now, Hajime must choose whether he will fight for her or remain loyal to Metropoliman in Platinum End Episode 11.

With the effects of Saki’s red arrow hitting him, Hajime receives a revelation about his life, its value, and what he should do to preserve it. This moment surprised me and creates an interesting character moment that didn’t have to exist. While Platinum End Episode 11 could’ve had Hajime base his actions purely on the mind-altering “love” induced by the arrow’s influence, the show takes the moment a step further to have him come to a rational reason to act as he does. While this reasoning is still fueled by the arrow’s influence, it made the notably questionable act of subverting someone’s free will feel a little more palatable.
As the situation begins to play out, Metropoliman is forced to take action. We see a bit of a different angle of the show’s antagonist here. Up until this point, Metropoliman has always been the one acting on others. Things have happened at times of his choosing. For the first time, he is being forced to react to the actions of others. While we know that the character is an excellent strategist, it will be interesting to see whether or not he can be as clever when he hasn’t had time to fully stack the deck in his favor.
While the ensuing showdown between our heroes and their nemesis takes center stage in Platinum End Episode 11, there is one major moment that belongs purely to Saki. Before the struggle begins, we get a final insight into what Saki sees as the reason for why she has been caught up in the struggle between the god candidates. The emotional reveal is a painful moment that further cements the sympathetic nature of her character.
The visual side of this episode does a great job of capturing the tension of the showdown that occupies the majority of the story. The high levels of emotions from everyone are presented well. This helps the show’s characters remain engaging despite how over-the-top its story is.
Along with its strong emotional display, Platinum End Episode 11 introduces some new elements to the series that fit perfectly in with the often deranged mindset of the show’s villainous elements.
