This episode did not end up going where I thought it would. With the entire world coming under the ultimate control spell and the demon who had been orchestrating many of the events of recent episodes finally revealed, I expected this episode to pick up on the action. Instead, we get a story that is light on action, but far greater on charm. To be honest, I’m completely ok with it.

Opening with Ling, Sun, and Lin’s flight from the mindless horde, The Daily Life of the Immortal King Episode 24 sees our protagonists quickly divine the means to undo the spell vexing humanity. But the trip to the one location where they can enact their plan could prove difficult to reach. But, where there is a will there is a way. And the students of Faction 60 never lack will.

This episode once again puts the series main character out of the limelight for much of the story, opting to once again focus on Sun. Her big moment in this episode is a sweet moment of personal revelations as she bares her soul and explains many of the motives that have driven her through her life, as well as how those motives have changed. While this scene of self-exploration doesn’t hit the sweetness button quite as hard as her final moment in season one, it comes far closer than I ever would’ve expected the show to take her again.

Beyond Sun’s claiming the spotlight once again, The Daily Life of the Immortal King Episode 24’s other standout is Ling’s magical sword. While rarely given time to express itself, throughout this episode the sword is allowed to become a wonderful comic foil as Ling utilizes it in every way he needs, though they aren’t what the sword was intended for. The sword’s protests about its mistreatment, and how Ling works around the complaint are unexpected comical fun.

The visuals throughout this episode manage to bring everything to life wonderfully. From the moments of levity to Ling’s flexes of power, The Daily Life of the Immortal King Episode 24 always nails the visual delivery of its tale.

I also appreciated how the show was willing to bring some elements to Sun’s big scene that enhance the energy of the moment, despite not making any sense. I love that the show is aware of how over-the-top it is that when it wants to deliver a moment with all the power it can it doesn’t allow itself to get caught up in silly notions like physics. If you are gonna be a stickler for that sort of problem, odds are you bailed out on this series a long time ago.

The Daily Life of the Immortal King Episode 24 once more brings so many elements together in such a harmonious package. Just when I think I can’t look forward to this show anymore, it raises the bar yet again.

The Daily Life of the Immortal King Episode 24 is streaming on Funimation.
