Kate and Matt sat down to talk with the King of Kaiju himself, comic book artist Matt Frank. They talk about what they got wrong in Episode 57, why Godzilla may be important but isn’t the only kaiju that matters, special effects, and ultimately what the artist would do if he had $100 million kaiju movie budget. Matt Frank is an American comic book artist and writer. He first became known among kaiju fans for his Godzilla Neo project on DeviantArt, a series of redesigns and stories about Toho’s many kaiju set in a single continuity. He was involved in IDW Publishing’s Godzilla series from the beginning, drawing and retouching many of the 80 variant covers for Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters #1. After drawing interiors for Godzilla: Legends #1, he became the main artist for Godzilla: Rulers of Earth, which became the longest-running Godzilla comic in the character’s history.
