NetEase Games and Naked Rain have released a brand new seven-minute gameplay trailer for their upcoming free-to-play open-world RPG, ANANTA. The trailer premiered at Tokyo Game Show 2025 and showcases a vibrant, anime-inspired metropolis where players can explore a city filled with endless possibilities and unexpected events.

ANANTA aims for players to engage with city entertainment naturally. The map is dotted with interactive hotspots where players can freely trigger events like petting cats in parks, gang clashes, and more. ANANTA is designed to be a whimsical and unpredictable experience.

ANANTA allows you to take on the roles of various characters as you navigate a bustling urban city landscape, from busy business districts to hidden back alleys. You can form your own crew and either tackle hidden threats or enjoy the city’s lively nightlife.

Through exploration, players can feel the pulse of the city, immersing them in the most vibrant urban life imaginable. Naked Rain highlighted that the NPCs on screen exhibit intelligent and lifelike behavior, which, in addition to the interactive CHAOS elements, brings the city to life.

Players can snoop on passersby’s phones or defy traffic laws with reckless street racing. Every choice ripples through the life of the city.

Looking for a change of pace? Come to Nova City! Play as the new captain of a special task force and interact with a charming (and eccentric) cast of characters as you build a team all your own. Drop into all sorts of thrilling roles while playing as different team members such as the department head, a well-to-do elite, and a hacker.

The new trailer and release to press highlighted the game’s key features, showcasing exploration and other key game elements that NetEase debuted.

ANANTA’s Open World

ANANTA  is a vibrant urban city where whimsical oddities are warmly welcomed. As a player, if you see a toilet sprouting legs and sprinting down the road, don’t be alarmed! Embrace the local customs, capture the hotspots, and let the city deliver refreshingly novel experiences.

  • Environment: Indoor and Outdoor scene interactions align with real-life experiences. The city features accessible interiors across three vertical layers: rooftops, mid-levels, and ground floors.
  • Free Movement: Players can use the ultra-free 3C (Character, Camera, Control) system to reach anywhere in sight. Use special traversal techniques like swinging or taking control of a helicopter to reach any destination in the game.
  • Vehicles: ANANTA offers a diverse range of vehicles for players to access and utilize in the city. Players can use public transportation, such as subways and buses, as well as private vehicles like cars, taxis, and helicopters. Beyond cruising vast maps, players also make use of vehicles to complete missions throughout the game.

Combat in ANANTA

The combat system thrives on creative freedom – every improvised tactic, from disarming foes to utilizing city terrain to weaponizing urban props, triggers an immediate and unexpected battle experience.

  • High Interactivity: Each battle scene is filled with interactive terrain and objects. Items like guitars or trash bins can become effective weapons to help players defeat enemies.
  • Strategic Flexibility: There is more than one way to win in combat. In addition to their own gear, players can take enemy weapons during battle to experience different combat styles.
  • Multi-Mechanic System: In combat with enemies, players can use precise dodging and blocking to counterattack.

What is the release date for ANANTA?

ANANTA will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and mobile platforms. NetEase and Naked Rain have not revealed the specific release date just yet. You can pre-register for the upcoming title here.
