Bloodhounds has been one of Netflix’s most successful Korean series. One part action, one part serious family drama, and all gas, the series has shifted greatly in Bloodhounds 2. In the first season, played by Woo Do-Hwan, Kim Gun-woo (also spelled Geon-woo) and Hong Woo-jin (Lee Sang-yi) took on a loan shark threatening their family, with boxing and COVID-19 as a backdrop to the relationship building in the series.

Now, in Bloodhounds 2, boxing becomes the focal point as Gun-woo’s fighting talent becomes the only thing that Baek Jeong (Jung Ji-hoon aka Rain) wants to own. The choice is to fight in the IKFC underground fighting ring for Baek Jeong and risk losing his life, or keep refusing and watch the people he loves be hurt or worse.

As Gun-woo, Woo Do-hwan shines as a man with an air of innocence, despite all the violence and danger he has endured. But his dedication to being the best athlete is what translates well as his resolve strengthens in the face of increasing danger from Baek Jeong. He doesn’t fight for money or himself, but the people he loves. This separates him from other action series leads and leaves a lasting impact on the audience.

As an actor. Woo Do-hwan’s career is packed with roles that showcase his physicality and emotional range. Having started his career in 2011 with a role in Come, Come, Absolutely Come, there is no shortage of series to see him in next.

If you watched Bloodhounds 2 and want more of its lead actor, Woo Do-hwan, here’s what to watch next after the credits roll on Episode 7.

Mad Dog (2017)

Official Synopsis:

Tempted is based on the classic 18th-century French novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. Yup, this is a KDrama take on Dangerous Liaisons.

Student president Choi Su-ji (Moon Ka-young), Kwon Si-hyeon (Woo Do-hwan), the eldest heir of the JK Group, and Casanova Lee Se-ju (Kim Min-jae) have been best friends since childhood.

Su-ji’s current boyfriend, Lee Ki-young (Lee Jae-kyun), humiliates her and her mother for trying to use him to climb up the social ladder and breaks up with her. As the last straw, when Su-ji’s mother and Si-hyeon’s father announce their engagement, the trio devises a plan to hit two birds with one stone.

The pub owner responsible for killing Yong-hoo’s father by running him over and dragging him on the car door, Ji-shin, is just awful, and Woo Do-hwan is great at it. Ji-shin becomes Yong-hoo’s archenemy as he prays to Satan and turns into a demonic dark bishop. Yup, this religious action-horror movie is a bit out there.

As Jo Yeong, Woo plays a captain of the Royal Guard of the Kingdom of Corea, and a childhood friend of Lee Gon. The first met Lee Gon at his coronation ceremony, when he was four years old; the duo shared a bond of friendship and brotherhood.

Additionally, he also plays Jo Eun-sup. Jo Yeong’s counterpart, who is currently serving his mandatory military duties as a guard for the National Police Agency of South Korea. He is humorous, free-willed and joyous, pretty much the exact opposite of Jo Yeong. He also has a crush on his childhood friend, Myeong Na-ri and ultimately stands out in the series as a truly great brother.

Official Synopsis:

Lee Gon (Lee Min-ho), a modern-day Emperor of the Kingdom of Corea, attempts to cross the barrier into an alternate reality where the Republic of Korea exists in the Kingdom’s stead. Official Synopsis:

Set in 1970s Korea, “Made in Korea” Season 1 follows Baek Kitae, an ambitious KCIA agent who’s living a double life. Smart, suave, cunning and capable, Ki-tae rapidly moves up the ranks after using his smuggling operation to consolidate power, protect his brother, and generate vast sums of money for the agency.

Seemingly unstoppable, only one thing stands in his way — a tenacious prosecutor who can’t be reasoned with, bought or bribed. With everything at stake for both men, the series will follow the duo as they look to take each other down.
