Square Enix Announces The Final Game In The ‘Life Is Strange’ Series

Life is Strange’s impact on episodic storytelling in video games can’t be understated. Max’s journey of love, self-acceptance, and grief continued in 2024’s Life is Strange: Double Exposure. Now, Square Enix has announced the end of Max’s story and the game series with Life Is Strange: Reunion, during a developer livestream, which you can watch here.

The video game series was originally developed by DontNod Entertainment 11 years ago. That was when we met Max Caulfield. Since the first game, Max Caulfield and Chloe Price have been through a literal whirlwind of friendship, love, heartbreak, and loss. Now, the two will finally reunite in the upcoming full-length adventure, which serves as the final chapter for the characters.

Developed by Deck Nine Games, Life Is Strange: Reunion will launch on March 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Keep reading to see what we know about the title so far, pre-order information, and to see if a collector’s edition is what you’re looking for.

What is Life is Strange: Reunion about?

Picking up after the events of the last game, players will once again visit Caledon University, where Max Caulfield teaches photography. According to the official description, Max returns from a weekend away only to find Caledon ablaze with Max’s friends, students, and faculty alike, all casualties in the tragedy.

With her Rewind power, Max only escapes the devastation due to her Rewind power, reversing time all the way to the events of the original game. Max uses a selfie to jump back in time, but that puts a timer of three days for Max to figure out how the fire began and hopefully save the school.

After using her Rewind Power to save Caledon, Max causes the timelines to merge at the end of Life is Strange: Double Exposure. That’s when Chloe arrives at the school. But she isn’t okay. In the release story notes, Chloe is “haunted by nightmares of a past she never lived,” and relies on Max’s help to prevent her reality from unraveling.

Lifes is Strange: Reunion Game Features

In a press release, Square Enix and Deck Nine shared the following game features that will make this title unique.

Players can play as both Max and Chloe in the same game for the first time in the series. The focus will be on alternating between their different perspectives as the story unfolds. The ability to switch between characters doesn’t just offer different perspectives on the story, but also the powers players can use.

Players will use Max’s Rewind power to undo and redo decisions, which will change the course of conversations and manipulate the environment to solve four-dimensional puzzles. As for Chloe, her Backtalk ability becomes essential with her “quick wits and take-no-prisoners attitude to sway key suspects.” She will go where Max can’t.
