The Invisible Man and His Soon to Be Wife Episode 3 (Tōmei Otoko to Ningen Onna: Sonouchi Fūfu ni Naru Futari), “Dating For a Week”, is the most entertaining episode yet, as the series ramps up the anime’s engagement factor, with the characters now dating. Their interactions with each other and the other characters, along with the introduction of new characters and revelations, make it a highly engaging episode.

The Invisible Man and His Soon to Be Wife Episode 3 starts with Yakou (Yuka Nukui) contemplating how she’s been dating Tounome (Yōhei Azakami) for a week now, but wants to get closer and more affectionate with him. However, as they’re both coworkers, they decide to keep things professional at work, but just a week later, Tounome decides to break that rule to be doting with Yakou when they’re alone in their office, with an uncomfortable KiraKira listening awkwardly behind the door.

The opening scene is not only incredibly cute but also excellently portrays how the leads are clearly getting closer and more intimate with one another. This makes watching their interactions as they grow fonder more entertaining.

The Invisible Man and His Soon to Be Wife Episode 3 starts on a high with the embrace of utter cuteness.

Tounome and Yaku in The Invisible Man and His Soon to Be Wife Episode 3

What makes this even better in The Invisible Man and His Soon to Be Wife Episode 3 is the animation from studio Project No.9 (Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective), which has seemingly gotten an upgrade since the previous episodes, with character motions, reactions, and cartoonish movements even more pronounced. The highlight of the animation is the cold open, where Yakou tries to hype herself up and distract herself from romance.

After the opening credits, Yakou invites Tounome to her home after work while nervously mentally preparing herself. The two go in for tea and decide they want to get closer by calling each other by their first names privately.

This scene is incredibly simple yet wholesome, enhanced by a shift to a cutesy, picturesque aesthetic when the characters call each other by their first names. The Invisible Man and His Soon to Be Wife Episode 3 then shifts to the next day and shows a conversation among all the employees of the detective agency as they discuss Tounome’s new green suit.

They discuss how it fits him well, despite him being an invisible person, and Tounome reveals that his dressing is the only form of expression he has, so being fashionable means a lot to him. He also reveals that he can only turn non-living things, like his clothes, fully invisible with a substance that comes from his race’s body.

This couple’s naturalness and realism make them stand out.

The conversation between the characters in this scene feels natural, and you can tell they care about each other and are curious enough to ask questions. It also seems like anime is at the very least interested in explaining how some races operate, which makes its fantasy world feel less like a gimmick.

The next scene shows Jarashi (Riho Sugiyama) and KiraKira (Masaya Fukunishi) getting annoyed at Yakou and Tounome for trying to be professional at work and not using their first names. This leads to a funny scene where Kirakira yells at them for making it annoying in their workplace.

A new character, Madaraito, is also introduced. He’s a boisterous, thoughtful lawyer who often works with the agency, and it’s revealed that he’s Kirakira’s partner. The personalities of the two are like light and day, and his extremely hyper movements, seen when he interacts with others, are animated really well.

An attempt at professionalism quickly turns into comedy gold in The Invisible Man and His Soon to Be Wife Episode 3.

Tounome in The Invisible Man and His Soon to Be Wife Episode 3

The final segment of The Invisible Man and His Soon to Be Wife Episode 3 sees Yakou get sick and bedridden, and she asks Tounome to come over and take care of her. He arrives and reveals that he cannot catch human illnesses despite being humanoid, and decides to freely take care of her and cook for her. The two quickly get comfortable and affectionate, but Yakou’s mom, who was drying laundry nearby, interrupts them, and the episode ends with another funny and embarrassing scene for the two.

What makes the two’s interactions in The Invisible Man and His Soon to Be Wife Episode 3 especially entertaining is that Yakou and Tounome are great adult leads who are honest about their feelings and wants from each other. They don’t beat around the bush or skip on communication, which makes watching their blossoming relationship engaging.

The Invisible Man and His Soon to Be Wife Episode 3 is an incredibly wholesome and entertaining episode that highlights its characters in the best ways.  The anime is getting even more entertaining with each episode, and hopefully it continues on that trajectory.

The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife Episode 3 is streaming now on Crunchyroll.
