The announcement trailer was dropped, giving players a look at the visuals to expect and the cozy escapism the game promises to deliver when it arrives. Aerial views of sloping green hills with sheep pepper the trailer, and the little sheepdog you will play in-game is falling not too far behind those floofy little rascals.

More about The Free Shepherd

The Free Shepherd is a single-player atmospheric adventure where you are an energetic and loyal sheepdog, alone in a beautiful but troubled world. Run fast and free on your search for masses of lost sheep, then herd them to a secret refuge. Discover a mysterious calamity that only you can stop.

The Free Shepherd explores the beauty and power of nature, combining cinematic exploration with quiet emotional storytelling and light fantastical elements. Set across sweeping landscapes inspired by travels to Iceland, players can embrace canine instincts as they unlock the mysteries of the island, its portals, and the calamity that awaits them.

Vermont-based cellist Zoë Keating is onboard to compose the music for the game, so expect to hear more from that side of things closer to that 2027 release date.

You can wishlist the game now on Steam and PlayStation.
