The Washington Area Film Critics Association announced today its winners for the 2025 WAFCA Awards. The awards were overwhelmingly in favor of Sinners, receiving awards for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay, in addition to seven other awards. The sweep makes Ryan Coolger the first filmmaker to receive all three honors since Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire in 2009. Its ten wins are also the most a single film has ever earned from WAFCA.

One Battle After Another is the other standout winner from the 2025 WAFCA Awards, with three wins and a number of other nominations. Other highly nominated films include Marty Supreme, Sentimental Value, Kpop Demon Hunters, and Wicked: For Good.
