If there is anything guaranteed in life, it’s that there will be more Bluey. And now, the beloved blue heeler that keeps kids entertained is moving to the silver screen from the TV Screen with The Big Bluey Movie.
BBC Studios and Walt Disney Studios, in collaboration with Ludo Studio (the animators of the series), have announced that a feature-length film based on the globally popular series is set for an international theatrical release on August 6, 2027. The film is supported by the Australian government through the Producer Offset and Screen Australia, and the Queensland Government through Screen Queensland’s Post, Digital and Visual Effects Incentive.
The Big Bluey Movie, this marks the big-screen debut for the Heeler family and brings the Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning animated series to audiences in a new cinematic format. The film will be written and directed by Bluey creator Joe Brumm.
What is The Big Bluey Movie about?
Bluey is a loveable, inexhaustible, blue heeler dog, who lives with her Mum, Dad, and her little sister, Bingo. Bluey uses her limitless energy to play games that unfold in unpredictable and hilarious ways, bringing her family and the whole neighborhood into her world of fun.
The movie is a CG-animated feature that will explore a new adventure for Bluey, her sister Bingo, and their parents, Bandit and Chilli. Known for its heartfelt and humorous depiction of family life and childhood imagination, the film is expected to maintain the series’ core themes while expanding its storytelling scope for a feature-length runtime.
