During a special PAX West panel, Wizards of the Coast hosted the full debut of Magic: The Gathering | Marvel’s Spider-Man. As a collaboration with Marvel, it will launch globally on September 26, 2025. A much-anticipated set, the Spider-Man MTG set and its rogues’ gallery in Magic: The Gathering. With Spider-Heroes from across the Marvel Universe coming to Magic: The Gathering, there’s something for every fan of Marvel’s beloved web-slinger.
During today’s panel, fans in attendance were given a sneak peek at some of the cards, new mechanics, collector variants, and more coming to the set. If you’re excited to swing into your LCS, don’t expect to be able to find a Commander deck like other Universes Beyond sets. But with a villain’s set and a swarm of spider-people, the reality is that you’ll have plenty of time to explore the Spider-verse and find a Commander to build something from the ground up.
Additionally, the team highlighted the Marvel Comics artists they worked with for original art and the covers they adapted for the cards. And better yet, a look at the showcase and treatments that embody what it’s like to read a comic book, all while you’re playing a Saga. The art for the Spider-Man MTG set comes from iconic Spider-Man comic source material by artists such as Jack Kirby, Todd McFarlane, John Romita Sr., Mike Zeck & Bob McLeod, and more, featured on cards inspired by iconic characters.
Spider-Man MTG Set’s New Mechanics & Play Format
Mayhem: A mana cost with conditions activated by Connive.
Connive: You may cast a card from your graveyard for its mayhem cost if you discarded it this turn. Timing rules still apply.
Web-slinging: A mana cost, similar to Mayhem, only active for Spider-Heroes, if you return a tapped creature you control to its owner’s hand.
Cards Showcased During The Magic: The Gathering | Marvel’s Spider-Man Panel
Having spent most of the SDCC panel showcasing different Spider-People like Spider-Man 2099 (Miguel O’Hara) and Spider-Man (Miles Morales), this panel focused on the heroes, the treatments, and well, the attention to detail brought to the Spider-Man costume in all of its forms.

The Infinity Stones are coming to Magic: The Gathering. Fans can find one of these, The Soul Stone, as Magic: The Gathering | Marvel’s Spider-Man’s headliner. There are three versions of the card that appear in the set, normal, full art, and showcase. While the Magic team did neither confirm nor deny that the Soul Stone is just the start of more collaborations, I think most eagle-eyed Marvel fans have already started debating which Infinity Stone will be next. I mean, there are empty slots in Thanos’ glove on the borderless treatment which features Thanos. We all chased chocobos; it’s time to rush for the stones.
