Piece of Cake Studios announced that its co-op survival horror game, Dark Hours, will launch version 1.0 on Steam in Fall 2025. But a release window isn’t all we’ve got. Dark Hours throws one to four players into a high-stakes heist, soon derailed by a chilling supernatural twist. But what if you throw a little PVP in the mix?

With their launch reveal trailer, Piece of Cake Studios also announced that they are adding a PVP mode to the game, answering requests from the community, and adding more dark chaos to the game.

What is Dark Hours?

A little bit of the horror film Don’t Breathe is alive and well in this game, only it’s supernatural. Dark Hours lets you play as thieves pulling off a daring heist inside haunted places. When a supernatural event disrupts your break-in, you and your team of robbers are now trapped with an evil entity. Forget your plan; your mission is to survive. Explore and cooperate to find a way out.

One of the signature elements of Dark Hours is that throughout the night, the evil entity will grow stronger as you progress. Add in three difficulty modes (Normal, Hard & Nightmare), and its easy to see how the game can get just as challenging as you want it.

Key Features

If you’re unfamiliar with the game, here are some of the Key Features of the game that the developer has highlighted on its Steam Page.

  • Cooperate: Dark Hours is a 1-4 player cooperative experience where you must work together to escape the evil entity that is hunting you. You can’t survive alone. Stay close to your teammates and collaborate to find your way out of this nightmare.
  • Explore: Explore the area in search of a way out, solve co-op minigames, deactivate lasers and security cameras, fill your bag with valuable loot, and take advantage of the building’s secrets to get out of there. Your heist will never be the same in the procedural environments of Dark Hours. Don’t get lost!
  • Manage your equipment: A lock-picking set, a hacking device, a flashlight,or a crowbar? Pick your gear and find all sorts of items during your exploration. Use them wisely with your teammates, and you may have a chance to get out alive. Or not…
  • Escape or survive: There are only two ways out: find the exit or hide from the creature until morning. Will you make it through this dreadful night?

What is coming in the PvP mode?

In the new PvP mode, burglars become rivals. Two teams race to complete the objective first while dodging monsters or turning those supernatural monsters against the other team. Use clever tricks and handy tools to slow your rivals, set traps in their path, steal their loot, and make your getaway before they do.

Dark Hours is available now in Early Access on Steam and will release 1.0 in Fall 2025.
