During the Anime Expo panel held at the Peacock Theater, guests included Chiaki Kobayashi, the Japanese voice actor for Stark, Producer Yuichiro Fukushi, and Composer Evan Call. They discussed their experiences working on the series and their anticipation for the upcoming season.

Fans can get ready for Frieren with its start-of-the-year release date.

Frieren Episode 16

Our critic called Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End anime of the year for 2024 and in their review of the first season said, “With 28 fantastic episodes in its first season, I could gush for another 3K words about this series. But some experiences are so transcendent that no words, let alone mine, can do them justice. So, if you love epic fantasy, watch this show. If you love gorgeous visuals and breathtaking music, watch this show.”

They continued, “When you find yourself tiring of the 8ooth isekai release and you just want a fantasy that doesn’t involve falling into another world, watch this show. If you love fantasy, you can use the experiences of a 1,000-year-old elf and make it relatable, which can make us question our own life choices. Watch this show. If you simply love great storytelling, watch Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. You won’t be sorry.”

What is Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End?

Frieren Anime of the Year

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is based on the popular, ongoing manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe. The series is a fantasy drama that delves into themes of time, loss, and the nature of relationships through the eyes of an elven mage with a long lifespan, who reflects on her past adventures and seeks to understand humanity.

The first season was highly praised, receiving nominations for Anime of the Year and winning Best Drama, Best Director (Keiichiro Saito), Best Background Art, and Best Supporting Character at the 9th Annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards.
