At today’s “Kaiju No. 8: Defense Force Boot Camp in Yokohama” event, fans of Naoya Matsumoto’s hit manga and anime series Kaiju No. 8 received a massive update on the upcoming Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME. The event officially revealed new original story elements, an all-new character named Sagan Shinomiya, and her voice actor.
If you’re unfamiliar, the Kaiju No. 8 manga, serialized on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+, boasts over 18 million copies in Japan, including digital editions across 15 volumes. The anime adaptation has also been loved by fans and critics alike. This has set the stage for this ambitious new game developed by Akatsuki Games, TOHO, and Production I.G.

What is a Kaiju Dimensional Gate?
The game’s original story introduces a critical new element: Kaiju Dimensional Gates. These mysterious portals have suddenly appeared due to the actions of a specific Kaiju, allowing creatures with unknown powers to emerge not only in Japan but across the entire globe. Even the identified Kaiju once thought defeated are now confronting the Defense Force through these gates.
Adding to the threat, previously unknown Kaiju possessing special abilities – and seemingly responsible for creating these Dimensional Gates – are continuously crossing over from other dimensions to launch devastating attacks. Their appearance has triggered a series of unprecedented battles against colossal Kaiju.
Who is the new Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME?
To combat this escalating threat, a newly formed special unit, the Closing Order with Zero Restrictions (CLOZER), has been officially unveiled. This unit is specifically established to investigate the mysteries surrounding these Kaiju Dimensional Gates. Alongside CLOZER, a brand-new original character named Sagan Shinomiya was revealed.
Sagan Shinomiya is the adoptive older sister of the well-known character Kikoru Shinomiya. After being adopted into the Shinomiya family, she moved to the United States and enlisted in the American Defense Force. While details about Sagan Shinomiya’s weaponry and the specific battles she will face are still under wraps, players can anticipate her playing a pivotal role in the game’s action-packed narrative.
Akari Kitō (Nezuko in Demon Slayer and Nene Yashiro in Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun) will lend her voice to the original character Sagan Shinomiya. About her role, seiyuu Kito offered her greetings via a special video she recorded for the event:
“I’ll be joining as an original character for the game. I’m thrilled about it! I think Sagan has this tough look to her and just comes across as so cool. I think she’s pretty serious, but she’s also a great and honest person. I’ve been so excited to play this character and record her lines.”
