Battlestate Games has released patch 0.16.7.0 to Escape From Tarkov, a technical and interim update focusing on game optimization based on player feedback and reports submitted on Tarkov’s Community page.

A particular focus was on improving the audio system in the game. Developers have worked on improving the audio, with the sound engine and its subsystems significantly expanding to provide a more immersive Escape from Tarkov experience.

AI technical refinement continues for both PvP and PvE modes. Bot difficulty (Scavs, PMCs, bosses, and their guards) has not increased, but many known issues have been addressed, and more updates will follow. Additional technical bugs and more are all wrapped up in this latest Escape From Tarkov update, but let’s get into the nitty gritty.

The List of Updates Coming to Escape From Tarkov

Audio:
  • The sound subsystem that checks obstacles between the listener and the sound source has been reworked.
  • Improved sound processing when the source is behind obstacles such as terrain features, rocks, vehicles, crates, and other environment objects.
  • Fixed various issues where certain sounds were being muffled or processed incorrectly.
  • Improved sound propagation through walls of different thicknesses from indoor to outdoor areas.
  • Improved sound penetration between building floors and staircases.
  • Refined occlusion for interactive windows and doors.
  • Reduced volume of bush rustling in both first- and third-person perspectives.
  • Fixed missing voice alerts when activating buttons on The Lab.
  • Enhanced audio occlusion detail across multiple locations.

This is not the final version of the audio system in Escape from Tarkov. Based on community feedback, it has undergone several internal testing phases, and developers are already preparing further improvements for upcoming game patches.

AI Updates:
  • Improved bot interaction with doors.
  • PMC bots will now try to avoid boss spawn zones and are less likely to engage bosses.
  • Fixed issues causing bots to descend stairs or uneven terrain too quickly.
  • Fixed bots spawning inside the ground or floating in the air.
  • Fixed situations where bots would unnaturally point their weapons upward.
  • Fixed issues where boss guards and PMC bots were friendly to each other.
  • Fixed issue where Rogue bosses could appear simultaneously across multiple locations in PvE mode.
QoL Features:

Many QoL features requested by players have been added, making Escape From Tarkov more convenient without losing its hardcore nature and sense of high stakes.

  • Added item search window to find items in stash by category or name.
  • Glasses and items with the “flash protection” stat now reduce blinding effects; balance adjustments applied to such items.
  • In-raid time is now displayed by default when pressing [O].
  • Added automatic currency conversion when purchasing if the selected currency is insufficient.
  • On the weapon build screen, available mods from traders are now highlighted.
  • Active quests tab now allows pinning quests to the top of the list.
  • Warning now shown when entering raid with a quest inventory item equipped.
  • Adjusted sensitivity and zoom for various scopes.
  • Improved usability of certain optical and thermal scopes.
  • Rear neck protection added to Redut body armor series (Redut-M, Redut-M SK-Woodland, Redut-T5 Smog); prices adjusted accordingly.
  • Changing locations now counts toward all quests with the “Survive and Extract” requirement.
  • RSShG-2 usage and mechanics rebalanced.
Additional Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed a number of visual issues on Customs and Reserve.
  • Fixed concussive stun effects from mines detonating far from the player.
  • Fixed issue where smoke from a grenade remained visible after a canceled throw.
  • Fixed incorrect smoke grenade display in hand after throw.
  • Fixed hand animation hang after using meds or stims while unarmed.
  • Fixed missing “Search” skill XP when looting containers.
  • Fixed bonuses from the “Hideout Management” skill.
  • Fixed display of built hideout modules in PvE constructed in PvP.
  • Fixed issue with starting crafts without ingredients at the elite level of the “Crafting” skill.
  • Fixed the ability to use mannequin gear in PvE for quest item placement.
  • Fixed reset of clothing in Fence’s services screen.
  • Fixed third-person hand animation glitch with underbarrel grenade launchers near obstacles.
  • Fixed item pickup failure when playing as Scav in some cases.
  • Fixed visual size increase for 10-round 7.62×51 KAC magazine during inspection.
  • Fixed issue where locked repair kits could still be used.
  • Fixed missing explosions and disappearing tripwires in PvE.
  • Fixed quest resets in certain scenarios.
  • Fixed “703 – Quest not found” error.
  • Fixed durability display for quest items.
  • Fixed bots damaging players through the APC.
  • Fixed lack of APC aggression toward players attacking it with RSShG-2.
  • Fixed prestige icon display for players with long nicknames.
  • Fixed “JSON parsing error in response to …” at game launch for some users.
  • Fixed icon for the “A Star Called the Sun” achievement.
  • The in-game season has been changed to summer.

What is Escape From Tarkov?

Escape From Tarkov is a hardcore and realistic online first-person action RPG/Simulator with MMO features and a story-driven walkthrough.

With each passing day, the situation in the Norvinsk region grows more and more complicated. Incessant warfare in Tarkov has sparked massive panic; the local population has fled the city, but those who stayed are looking to improve their fortunes at the expense of others.

Having accepted the new reality, savage Tarkov locals – “Scavs” flocked into well-armed gangs and started the redivision of the city. Nowadays, Tarkov is separated by unseen borders, controlled by different groups. Gain-greedy gunmen would go to any length to have their way, including the murder of civilians and direct confrontation with the two private military companies.
