Battlefield 2042 is launching Update 8.9.0 this week, bringing a slew of weapon changes and bug fixes. But the biggest news? The fight is going galactic with a new Mass Effect crossover event! The Battlefield 2042 Mass Effect Event will run from June 17 to July 1, 2025, players can grab exclusive Mass Effect content through purchasable bundles and progression rewards.
Battlefield 2042 Mass Effect Event Will Include:
Beyond the bundles, players can earn three Mass Effect cosmetics through event progression, including a legendary weapon skin inspired by the iconic M8 Avenger assault rifle.
- Galactic Bundle – 1750 BFC: For those who want to carve their legacy among the stars.
- Scoped & Dropped Bundle – 2000 BFC: Get the best gear in the galaxy for any mission.

Battlefield 2042 Mass Effect Event New Features
Alongside the Mass Effect event, Battlefield 2042 players can also jump into Conquest Ascension. This new experience introduces “Ascension tactics” with added crawl and squad spectating mechanics, aiming to provide a fresh way to train for future warfare.
Update 8.9.0 also brings a significant number of weapon changes. A notable addition is the Underloaded Magazine, a new magazine attachment. This standard issue magazine holds fewer bullets but offers faster and easier handling. Players will need to weigh the benefits of improved weapon handling against reduced sustained damage output.
Finally, new game modes have been added to Portal, expanding the custom game options. These include Control, Shutdown, Strike Team, and Killswitch. Additionally, the Stadium map has been added to Custom Conquest.
