During PAX East 2025, Digital Extremes previewed what’s next for their Tenno. From first looks at new mechanics in their upcoming fantasy RPG, Soulframe, to massive updates to Warframe, they showed a lot of cards. What’s bigger is that all the updates coming to Warframe are slated to be released BEFORE TennoCon. With that in mind, there’s no stopping Digital Extremes and their Tenno.
Starting with Soulframe reveals, the panel gave a new look at the fantasy RPG. Flashier combat, more refined animations, and more showed significant progress since its initial reveal. While very distinctly different from Warframe combat, all that was shown still carries that high-octane fun that its sister property is known for.
In addition to the combat, a new mechanic, “Motes,” was shown. Motes are a new resource for upgrading and imbuing weapons with elemental and magical attributes. They’re found throughout the world and need to be caught to be used. Motes can also be upgraded by releasing previously caught motes to gain resources that empower others.
Plus, a new faction with a new boss, the Tired King, will soon be coming to Soulframe: Prelude, and more information about these dark knights will follow soon. Finally, a new Prelude event is coming, called “Festival of the Circade.” This is a new community event that will add a new location to explore, new rewards to unlock, and a community puzzle for everyone to work together to solve. It is a limited-time event, so be ready.
Moving on to Warframe, the next major update after Warframe:1999 was released.
Coming in June 2025, Isleweaver will take Tenno back to Duviri and fight Major Rusalka. Story beats that began in 1999 are promised to continue here as a new threat, the Eight Claw, will also push Tenno. You’ll also get to unlock the finally-revealed Spider-frame, Oraxia. This new frame will come with unique abilities and special animations to give the feel of being an arachnid. Oraxia won’t just be there for you to get its frame. You’ll also have a chance to fight Oraxia as well.
The biggest reveal of Isleweaver goes beyond the new story content. Massive quality of life changes are coming to the game, from balancing updates to fixing the intent behind the melee slam. Most importantly, a new “golden path” rework is coming. The main scenario leading up to 1999 will be streamlined to tell a more cohesive story.
Less bloat, and a more direct path to get to current content for those who are late to the Warframe party. Additionally, a new player experience is coming as well to help with that daunting onboarding. Finally, a long-requested update to the plant collection is coming too. Players will no longer have to scan plants to harvest them, massively streamlining the process to keep players in the fun for longer.
All this on top of new Prime frames, like the Yoreli Prime frame coming May 21st, and the Citrine Deluxe coming in Isleweaver. Finally, as mentioned before, the melee slam is being updated from its current busted form. Instead of spamming it with short hops, the damage and radius of Slam’s impact will change depending on how high you jump.
For a presentation that was to set up everything coming in the next two months, Digital Extremes showed off a lot. And that’s with the caveat that even more announcements are coming soon, specifically at TennoCon. So, be sure to watch all the major reveals at TennoCon for Soulframe and Warframe on July 18 and 19.
