New Dating Game Pick Me Pick Me Launches Its Early Access This May

Optillusion Games, the creators behind the hit games While Waiting and Moncage, announced that its AI-assisted PvP speed dating game, Pick Me Pick Me, will launch in Early Access on May 28. Coming to Steam, iOS, and Android, this free-to-play title transforms dating into a competitive battleground, blending real-time flirting with strategic sabotage — and just a bit of chaos.

So why the Early Access? As the developers shared on the Steam page, it all boils down to getting player feedback on what works and doesn’t. The usage of AI plays a factor as well: “Due to the inherent uncertainty of AI, we believe that Early Access allows us to better engage with players, collect feedback, and continuously improve and optimize the game to deliver a better experience.”

We all want a better experience at the end of the day. With the unpredictability of AI, the roughly six-month period the developers expect to make Pick Me Pick Me available in Early Access will provide plenty of time to engage with players and acquire feedback to improve this AI-assisted PvP speed dating game.

What to expect from Pick Me Pick Me

Still from Pick Me Pick Me Game

In Pick Me Pick Me, you and a friend are thrown into a speed date with a charming, unpredictable character — and the race is on to win their heart. Use voice or text messages to flirt your way to victory, while deploying devious skill cards to throw your rival off their game. At the end of the date, only one (or maybe neither) player will get picked. It’s the battlefield of love, and your charisma is your weapon.

This game offers multiple ways to jump in — whether you’re playing casually with friends, challenging yourself solo, or crafting your own dream date (or nightmare). It offers several game modes, including:

  • PvP Mode: Go head-to-head with a friend in two-player matchmaking
  • PvE Mode: Practice your charm solo in single-player mode
  • Workshop Mode: Create custom dateable characters and challenge your friends to win them over
A list of key features includes:
  • Real-Time AI Interactions: Converse with over 20 unique characters, each with their own quirks, passions, and deal-breakers
  • Skill Card System: Use cards to boost yourself or sabotage your opponent in hilarious ways
  • Crossplay: Play seamlessly across PC and mobile
  • Multilingual Support: Available in English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Portuguese
  • Global Leaderboards: See how your charm stacks up against players around the world
  • In-Game Purchases: Optional purchases available on all platforms

What is available to access in Pick Me Pick Me’s Early Access?

Not everything players can expect from the fully realized version of the game is available, but plenty in the Early Access version gives you an idea of what is to come. Pick Me Pick Me provides a complete dating battle mode with 20 AI characters available for dates, ensuring a rich and diverse interactive experience. It includes:

  • Randomly assigned dating characters, bringing a fresh experience each game.
  • There are a variety of dating scenes, such as libraries, bars, camping, and restaurants, for players to explore.
  • Various skill card combinations, such as mind reading, interrupt, and sentence reversal, allow different strategies to dominate the match.

Interested? Well, mark your calendars for May 28, when this free-to-play title opens its doors for players to experience its experimentally chaotic dating game. As a reminder, Pick Me Pick Me is coming to Steam, iOS, and Android.
