Nightmarish First OMUT Demo Out Now On Steam

The first demo for OMUT, from developer Madame Cyclone and publisher Megabit, is available now on Steam. And, based on early feedback from some of the most battle-hardened game reviewers, this first demo is a nightmarish hellscape determined to break everyone from the jump. Us included.

When we last previewed the game, we said, “No guide can describe how to help you get your aiming skills, master dodging windows, and when exactly to deflect without being hands-on. If you learn best in this way and love a difficult puzzle, OMUT is the game for you. Its design is beautifully bleak, where you’ll always feel hopeless, but you won’t be able to walk away.”

But what can you expect from Madame Cyclone, an independent developer unit that describes itself as “a trio of miserable men on the brink of collapse.” This brink-of-collapse feeling is relatable and sets the tone for anyone diving into this demo because players will reach new levels of psychological collapse in the process.

Not completely sold? Let’s get into what you can expect from the first demo.

What to expect from OMUT?

More than just a game, OMUT is an experience—an obsession, a dream, an ephemeral hope, a hallucination, a whirlpool, and a nightmare. Players embark on an unsettling quest to find a red-haired woman from their dreams, guided by a sarcastic skeletal companion, as they face meticulously designed, nightmarish bosses. Each encounter requires unique strategies, ensuring that every battle feels fresh and distinct.

OMUT is a brutally addictive adventure for players who thrive on challenge and exploring the unknown. This demo is a glimpse into the chaos that awaits and will be enough to pull you into the madness.

The beguiling demo offers just a sliver of OMUT’s unforgiving brutality, featuring:

  • The first act of OMUT, including seven maddening bosses.
  • Three character upgrades to earn and master.
  • Approximately one hour of gameplay… if you’ve got what it takes.

Do you think you have what it takes to tackle this challenge head-on? Dive into the first demo for OMUT, which is available now on Steam.
