My Hero Academia: You’re Next is finally getting its streaming release. Crunchyroll, the global anime brand, is bringing the latest My Hero Academia to the streaming service today, Sunday, April 20, 2025, at 5:00 PM PT. Note: the time is subject to change, but keep your eyes peeled for this highly anticipated film to drop.

Originally announced in 2023, My Hero Academia: You’re Next premiered in theaters in Japan on August 2, 2024, and was released in the United States on October 11, 2024. This streaming release today has been a long time coming, with many fans getting the chance to watch what happened directly after the series’ sixth season, when All Might, the Symbol of Peace, retired.

The events of this film set up the stakes between the sixth and seventh seasons of My Hero Academia and aimed to ask the question, “What’s next?” in this popular, long-lasting series. Or rather, who is next to fill in the gap left behind by the hero, All Might? As it turns out, it may be the students of Class 1-A, after all, with the passing of the baton taking place in action-packed, well-animated fashion by studio Bones.

That’s enough conjecture for now. All will be answered when My Hero Academia: You’re Next launches today on Crunchyroll.

What is My Hero Academia: You’re Next about?

The fourth original feature film for studio Bones‘ anime adaptation of Kohei Horikoshi’s manga, My Hero Academia, takes place after the events of the sixth season.  Deku and his Hero Course classmates at U.A. High are determined to carry on the ideals of All Might.

After Deku faces Tomura Shigaraki, a mysterious figure emerges resembling All Might. When the heroes uncover his devious plans, he is revealed to be Dark Might. He unleashes his Quirk to create a massive fort, absorbing all in its path. It’s up to Class 1-A to stop Dark Might and save the world!

Our critic said, “While My Hero Academia: You’re Next doesn’t reach the emotional high of the shonen anime’s second feature film, My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising, it is a film with hope, and that’s what we need right now. The film’s commentary on legacy stands as its most impactful, and still, studio Bones’ action sequences hit an animation high that warrants seeing it on a big screen. My Hero Academia: You’re Next shows why superhero fatigue has yet to set in for fans of Horikoshi’s characters.”

My Hero Academia: You’re Next Official English Subtitled Trailer “Who’s Next”

“It’s the dawn of the Dark Might legend!” Set after the conclusion of My Hero Academia Season 6 and right before the final battle between heroes and villains, My Hero Academia: You’re Next sees Deku and his friends face a new threat-a mysterious figure claiming to be the new Symbol of Peace.
