After months of anticipation, fans of A Shop for Killers can finally celebrate as the explosive, action-packed Korean drama was officially renewed for a second season, exclusively on Disney+.

After Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger, it remained to be seen whether we would get A Shop For Killers Season 2. Season 1 technically could have served as an okay ending, but questions remained. Mysteries still needed to be solved, particularly around Jian’s uncle. For viewers who wanted a tighter ending, Season 1 did not deliver that.

Thankfully, with A Shop For Killers Season 2 getting greenlit, maybe we can have our questions answered. But, for those who have no idea what I’m talking about here, let’s fill you in on Season 1.

What happened in A Shop For Killers Season 1?

Named one of The New York Times’ “Best International Shows” and listed on our list of Top KDramas of 2024,  A Shop for Killers Season 1 saw college student Jian diving for cover in her childhood home after a series of highly skilled assassins got her in their sights. Desperately fighting to survive, Jian began to remember invaluable lessons her uncle Jinman had taught her before his mysterious death, drawing on them to help her stay alive.

Confused and cornered, Jian worked fast to uncover her uncle’s hidden past and figure out why so many people were desperate to gain access to her house and the extensive arsenal hidden inside. In the process, she learns so much about herself, but more importantly, her innate ability to survive at all costs.

A Shop For Killers (Killeodeul-ui syopingmol) is based on Kang Jiyoung’s popular original novel. It was written by Ji Hojin and Lee Kwon and directed by Lee Kwon. The first series consisted of eight episodes.

Our writer said, “A Shop For Killers is action-packed, featuring characters that will sway you, piss you off, and lure you in. For a show about killers, the action doesn’t disappoint. From drones to slingshots to makeshift traps to shootouts, the action sequences will make hearts race.”

Who’s joining A Shop For Killers Season 2?

A Shop for Killers Season 2 will star Lee Dong-wook (Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938) as Jinman, a former mercenary; and Kim Hye-jun (Connect, Kingdom) as Jian, a college student on the run from some of the world’s deadliest assassins. For those who watched the first season, Lee Dong-Wook and Kim Hye-jun are the heart of the series, with a supporting cast that took no survivors.

The upcoming season will also see the arrival of Japanese star Masaki Okada (Drive My Car, We’re Millennials. Got a Problem?) and Hyunri (Pachinko, The Naked Director) alongside returning director Lee Kwon (Save Me 2, Door Lock) and writers Ji Hojin and Lee Kwon. Who these two new actors are set to play still remains up in the air, but maybe they’ll be tied into the ever-mysterious Uncle Jinman.

What’s on the Kdrama docket for Disney+?

A Shop for Killers Season 2 is the latest Korean Original to be announced as part of the eagerly anticipated upcoming Disney+ Korea slate.

Throughout 2025 and beyond, global audiences can also look forward to other must-watch series, including Nine Puzzles, a dark criminal mystery starring Kim Dami and Son Sukku; Low Life, a treasure hunting series starring Ryu Seungryong; and Tempest, an international conspiracy series starring Jun Gianna, Gang Dongwon, John Cho, and Michael Gaston.

Disney+ has been investing heavily in Korean content for some time, paving the way for thrilling storytelling that taps into the rapidly growing market. As they continue to invest in this market, expect more exciting projects to come our way.
