Wolcen Studio released the roadmap for its highly anticipated ExtrAction RPG, Project Pantheon. The roadmap touts new gameplay features and improvements, as well as new content, all geared towards enhancing players’ experiences in the Closed Alpha 2 test later this spring.
Project Pantheon will soon reopen registrations and announce official dates for Closed Alpha 2 for this spring, which will focus on enhancing combat gameplay. Closed Alpha 3 is scheduled for summer 2025 to introduce narrative changes, and Closed Alpha 4 coming in autumn 2025 will balance gameplay and players’ progression.
Here’s what is coming in the next Project Pantheon playtest.
As development progresses, Wolcen Studio continues to refine the gameplay experience and introduces additional content for the next playtest, including:
New Features & Systems
- Player Sanctuary – Player’s personal hub has evolved into a fully 3D navigable space where they can customize their gear, track game achievements and craft runes. The Sanctuary will grow the more resources players collect, becoming a vital part of the journey.
- Dodge Roll – A new default gameplay mechanic that allows players to evade enemy attacks precisely.
- Weapon and Gear Customization – Combat style is now more flexible than ever. Players can now choose which abilities to equip on weapons and armor, allowing for deeper personalization and strategic playstyles.
- Crafting and Durability – Gear now degrades over time, requiring careful management from players. Runes can be crafted to enhance equipment and repair gear at the Sanctuary to keep it in peak condition.
New Content
- The Staff – A powerful magical weapon bringing even more variety to combat encounters.
- Dungeons – New high-risk, high-reward zones have emerged across the map. These areas contain exclusive loot and intense battles that will test even the most skilled players.
- New Monster Faction – A fresh enemy faction, The Hamförir, has entered the battlefield, increasing the variety of combat encounters and strategic challenges.
- Gameplay Tutorial – A new structured tutorial ensures that every player starts with a solid understanding of the game’s core mechanics.
Bug Fixes and Quality of Life Improvements
- Improved Movement – Traversal is now more fluid and responsive, with reduced input lag and jitter.
- Revamped HP System and Shields – Shields have been redesigned and health is now segmented, improving combat clarity and strategy.
- Better Match Pacing and Map Balance – Loot distribution, enemy placements and player count have been adjusted for a more balanced and engaging experience.
- Combat Improvements – Abilities now feel more responsive as input lag has been reduced, and the first round of balance tweaks will ensure fairer matchups.
- Bug Fixes – A variety of bugs and inconsistencies have been fixed to ensure a smoother overall experience.
Wolcen Studio also reveals Closed Alpha Test 1 results
Along with the roadmap and updates, Wolcen is also thrilled to share the initial results of Closed Alpha 1 of Project Pantheon in January. The play-test saw over 1,400 new accounts created, with more than 1,100 active players diving into the action.
The community generated over 500 sessions and racked up an average of 2.2 player kills. In the end, players completed a total of 2,156 successful extractions, with the fastest extraction being recorded in just a minute and 30 seconds. Wolcen is thankful to all participants and the excitement surrounding its development so far. The feedback and contributions will continue to play a critical role in improving overall gameplay.
