Today, during a special developer livestream, the Star Wars: The Old Republic team revealed the next major update coming to the beloved MMORPG with Game Update 7.6 – Galactic Threads. This game update packs a wallop with plenty of interactive elements to get gamers further invested in the universe. Adding further customization options for players to use and much-needed artwork updates make Game Update 7.6 a hefty one.

In Game Update 7.6—Galactic Threads, players will experience new story missions that take them all across the galaxy in their race to find Darth Malgus. As if that wasn’t enough for players to contend with, a new mission arises where players must seek answers surrounding Darth Nul’s holocron and the Hidden Chain’s ambitions.  Additional elements like Dynamic Encounters and an all-new lair boss will keep players on their toes and fully engaged.

Dynamic Encounters unlocks new world content that helps further immerse players in the worlds their characters will travel through. Whether tackling new missions or just open-world exploring, players can actively search them out or experience them naturally unprompted when focusing on their adventures.  These Dynamic Encounters can range from engaging with Hidden Chain forces to herding escaped Banthas running amok in a space port. These Encounters will debut on Hoth and Tatooine with 7.6 and will have a variety of rewards for players to earn!

Galactic Threads also features the arrival of the brand new Lair Boss – Propagator Core XR-53. Propagator Core XR-53 will launch in both Story and Veteran difficulties so many can experience this latest addition. The Propagator Core XR-53 originated from one of the many broken pieces when the Emperor’s Fortress crashed onto Ilum. The XR-53 is a Rakatan droid replicator trying to fix itself by harvesting resources but its core functions have gotten a bit disrupted. This can mean a great level of chaos for players depending on how far corrupted Propagator Core XR-53 has become.

Star Wars: The Old Republic

New visual updates are coming to Star Wars: The Old Republic courtesy of Game Update 7.6. The focus is on the starter planets, with art updates impacting Tython, Korriban, Hoth, and Ilum. These art updates, along with the changes in character models, are a step towards improved fidelity from the Star Wars: The Old Republic development team, giving players a more visually pleasing experience overall.

Returning to the character models, the Galactic Threads update will improve character textures. This will also impact ocular specularity and lighting, with marked shader improvements. The models impacted by this latest update will be the Human, Chiss, Cyborg, Miralukan, Mirialan, Togruta, Rattataki, and Zabrak models.

New customizations will arise inspired by The Skeleton Crew in the latest Star Wars: The Old Republic update. Skeleton Crew-inspired items players should keep their eyes peeled for are the Mysterious Rogue armor (with two variants), Fearless Buccaneer weapons, and new customizations that will arrive at the Cartel Market.

Mark your calendar for the Skeleton Crew-inspired Meirm Cicada Mount, which comes with companion AND mini pet functionality. It’s the best of both worlds! This Meirm Cicada Mount will be free to players with an active subscription anytime between November 29 – January 4, 2025, and will be granted at the launch of Game Update 7.6.

Outside of the Galactic Threads update, Life Day is soon upon us. Star Wars: The Old Republic’s Life Day Winter Season Event will begin mid-December with two new rewards Tirsa G1-F7 Mount and Life Day Ornate Robes. Keep your eye out for more details closer to December so you can ready yourself for what will likely be a fun event for all players.

Of note, during the livestream event, the Star Wars: The Old Republic team mentioned that they are close to releasing a new Mac Launcher. The technical test is still underway, but they are working with the beta testers to ensure the new Mac Launcher is ready for players. Until then, no definitive date has been set, but an announcement is on the horizon.

Game Update 7.6 – Galactic Threads will be launching on Star Wars: The Old Republic early December. If you don’t yet have a subscription to Star Wars: The Old Republic, you can get it on Steam.
