After discovering that his balls are still missing, Okarun and Momo need to find where Turbo Granny lost them. Their wild quest runs into a few obstacles along the way in DanDaDan Episode 6, “A Dangerous Woman Arrives,” as new layers to the mystery unfold.

The opening scene of Okarun, Momo, and Turbo Granny in cat doll form is excellent. The trio is looking in a dimly lit park for Okarun’s missing balls and discussing the power stored in the balls. This raises the stakes by explaining that other spirits and monsters will be looking for the balls as well. It is a seamless way to move this issue from Okarun simply trying to restore his body to him having to fight against other enemies who want that power.

Once the duo returns to school, Okarun is confronted about his relationship with Momo. While viewers are keyed in on their relationship, Okarun has been relatively clueless as a character. His classmates ask if they are dating, and he denies it while also responding pretty violently to their comments about Momo.

What is really cool about this is it allows Okarun to evaluate how he thinks about Momo. He was so obsessed with the fact that he made his first friend that he forgot that she is one of the hottest girls in the school. It is an almost wholesome moment where viewers get the chance to see Okarun deal with his own lack of self-confidence. He sees himself as a complete loner, but now that he has a friend, he can start to open up and experience more “normal” things, like liking a girl.

Momo experiences this with her friends, too. The way they talk about Okarun and how he defends her makes her reevaluate her feelings and thoughts about him. The two are slowly starting to realize they might actually like each other. It will be interesting to see how this develops and what inevitable comedic moments will ensue between them.

After all of that, we finally get to the meat and potatoes of DanDaDan Episode 6. The titular dangerous woman, Shiratori, is behind all sorts of nasty rumors about Momo. It turns out she possesses one of Okarun’s balls and can tell that Momo has special powers. She considers Momo to be a demon and is out to put a stop to her.

It’s hilarious that the bit here is “fellow student has Okarun by the balls.” His balls, being the source of most of the humor in this series, is a bit that is constantly developing in new ways. Even though the core of the joke is always the same crude body humor, the innovation and the way it ties into the story at all times never fail to deliver.

It is also great that the villain of DanDaDan Episode 6 is not really a villain. She is just a pretty girl who thinks she is going to exorcise a demon. The battle against her is quite different than the previous one against Turbo Granny because she appears to be just like Okarun and Momo. On the outside, she looks like a crazy person talking about demons and familiars while her classmates all look on confused.

DanDaDan Episode 6

Watching someone deal with something similar to Okarun and Momo with their classmates thinking something is up is fun. The way these characters respond to those moments is always funny and helps keep the somewhat more serious moments from ever becoming too serious.

Shiratori and her friends corner Momo in an abandoned building and attempt to exorcise her. Okarun comes to the rescue, and we get a few more funny ball jokes. Then, it is revealed that Shiratori was never the dangerous woman after all. There was so much build-up to make viewers believe Shiratori was the bad guy of this episode, but Okarun saw through it all along.

It turns out there was a monster following Shiratori, who was the real villain. This monster has been trying to possess Shiratori, and now Okarun and Momo have to come to her defense. It is a well-executed twist that also presents an exciting battle sequence. However, the battle has a few twists of its own and does not go down quite as expected. DanDaDan Episode 6 keeps viewers and characters alike on their toes to deliver a climactic ending that feels pretty rewarding.

DanDaDan Episode 6 is another exciting addition to the series that allows the characters to grow while keeping viewers on their toes. It sets up well for an action-packed next episode but never feels slow itself.

DanDaDan Episode 6 is airing now on Netflix and Crunchyroll.
