Music fans rejoice: Eric Nam is joining Avatar: The Last Airbender—the animated one. Named GQ Korea’s Man of the Year for 2024, Eric Nam is a entertainer, singer, songwriter, TV personality, and he’s added actor to his multi-hyphenate list. Having voiced Yoon Kwan in The Loud House and with a role in the upcoming series Transplant, he’s set to make a name for himself in acting as well. Now, he can add Aang to the list.
Nam will voice Aang alongside the talents of Dave Bautista as the unnamed villain. The animated feature film is currently in production under the working title, Aang: The Last Airbender.
The original Avatar: The Last Airbender co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino will produce the film alongside Eric Coleman, an animation veteran whose first credit was from 1998’s Nickelodeon series The Wild Thornberrys. The animated film is produced under the Avatar Studios banner. Avatar Studios was created in 2021 as part of Nickelodeon’s commitment to expanding the beloved franchise in animation—beyond the two existing series. Additionally, directorial duties belong to director Lauren Montgomery, who is set to direct the 2025 film.
Aang: The Last Airbender will center on an older team, Avatar, which includes Aang, Katara, Toph, Sokka, and Zuko. The Avatar animated movie will serve as the first of a trilogy that marks a new chapter for the animated franchise with its theatrical releases.
The current release date for Aang: The Last Airbender is scheduled to hit theaters on October 10, 2025.
