With the conclusion of the Remix Rumble Championship, it’s time to look ahead to what comes next for Teamfight Tactics. Riot Games has announced the next set is “Inkborn Fables.” There is a lot to go over with new champions, new traits, game features, and more. So let’s get into it with a full look at which champions will be gracing players’ boards in the new set.
Champion List
61 champions make up the roster of choices for players to build their teams from in “Inkborn Fables.” While most faces will be familiar to fans, two never-before-seen characters are gracing the game. Alune and Kobuko are coming to Teamfight Tactics despite not being Champions from Riot’s Flagship League of Legends game. Also, a certain pair of lovers are getting to appear together in this set as a duo-champion (see their special trait Lovers in the trait section for full details).
Traits
Traits make Teamfight Tactics the malleable strategy game that it is. Combining different traits to come up with synergies is one of the keys to winning a match. Along with every trait that appears above in the character list, players will notice another trait, Exalted. This trait doesn’t appear in our character list because, for the first time, the devs are introducing a floating trait. At the start of each game, the characters with Exalted will be randomized. This will open up team-building strategies as characters who generally don’t share a trait will. Leading to new combinations to explore. Here is the full list of traits along with a description of what each does:
Dragon Lord: After 8 seconds, the dragon strikes the board dealing true damage to enemies and granting allies an attack speed bonus. Percentages of both damage and attack speed increase with the number of dragonlord characters. At four characters the dragon also stuns enemies for 1.5 seconds.
Dryads: Each dryad character gains ability power and health. Each enemy’s death grants additional health. Both effects scale with the number of Dryads you have.
Fated: Drop one Fated unit over another to form a pair and unlock a Fated bonus. Bonus scales with the number of Fated champions.
Fortune: When you lose a fight, gain luck. Lose luck when you win. Roll a die, in that many player combats, hold a festival. You have the option to convert your luck into rewards. Higher levels of Fortune can also allow the player to heal two health before battle and roll additional Fortune dice.
Ghostly: Upon dealing or taking damage seven times, Ghostly units send two specters to haunt nearby enemies and heal 2.5% max health every two seconds. Haunted enemies take bonus damage for each specter on them and pass specters off at death. More Ghostly characters increase the damage bonus to haunted enemies.
Heavenly: Each Heavenly unit provides a unique stat bonus to your team increased by their star level and how many Heavenly units you have in play. Stats that can be increased are crit, armor/magic resistance, health, attack speed, ability power, attack damage, and omnivamp.
Inkshadow: Gain unique Inkshadow items that change each game. Inkshadow characters gain bonus damage and damage reduction based on the number of Inkshadow characters you have.
Mythic: Mythic champions gain health, ability power, and attack speed. After four player combats Mythic characters become Epic, increasing the bonus by 50%. More Mythic characters increase the Health and ability power gained.
Porcelain: After casting, Porcelain characters boil. They gain attack speed and take less damage for three seconds. The attack speed increase and damage reduction are increased with the number of Porcelain characters.
Sniper: Snipers gain one attack range and deal more damage the further away a foe is. Having more Snipers increases the damage increase per hex of distance.
Storyweaver: Storyweavers summon a hero named Kayle and evolve her. Additional Storyweavers allow the player to choose additional effects for Kayle, as well as increase her health. Every star level that Storyweavers have increases Kayle’s health and ability power. Kayle gains additional attack speed for each stage.
Umbral: The moon illuminates hexes, shielding units placed in them at the start of combat. Umbral units in illuminated hexes can execute low-health enemies. The amount of shields and the threshold for enemy executions increases with additional Umbral units.
Altruist: Alturists heal the lowest health ally for 15% of the damage they deal. Your team gains armor and magic resistance. The amount of armor and magic resistance increase with additional Altruists.
Arcanist: Arcanists gain ability power and grant ability power to allies. Additional Arcanists increase these bonuses.
Artist: The Artist paints a champion you’ve placed in a special bench slot. You get a one-star copy of that champion when the Artist is done. Rounds to complete are equal to the cost of the unit.
Behemoth: Behemoths gain armor and magic resistance. Whenever a Behemoth dies, the nearest Behemoth gains 50% more for five seconds. The amount of armor and Magic resistance gained increases with additional Behemoths.
Bruiser: Your team gains 100 additional health and Bruisers gain additional maximum health. With additional Bruisers the amount of health gain increases for Brusiers. At six, Bruisers also get to add 6% of their max hit points as physical damage for one attack.
Duelist: Duelists gain attack speed on each attack, stacking up to 12 times. The increase in attack speed grows with additional Duelists. At six, Duelist characters also gain 12% damage reduction.
Exalted: Your team gains 5% bonus damage plus an additional increase based on your level. After combat, store two XP in a soul core. Sell the Soul Core to gain the experience. The damage increase per level goes up with additional Exalted characters.
Great: Every three casts, WuKong grows his weapon, modifying his abilities.
Invoker: Your units gain additional mana. The mana bonus increases with additional Invokers.
Lovers: Change which Lover is on the field based on whether they are placed in the front or back of the board. When the active Lover casts, the other provides a bonus effect.
Reapers: Reaper Abilities can critical strike and they gain 20% critical strike chance. Additional Reapers allow Reapers to gain a bleed effect.
Sage: Allies in the front two rows gain omnivamp and allies in the back two rows gain ability power. Additional Sage increases these bonuses.
Spirit Walker: The first time the Spirit Walker drops below 50% health he fully heals, gains movement speed, and changes his ability.
Trickshot: Trickshot abilities ricochet. Each ricochet deals a percentage of the previous bounce’s damage. The percentage of damage increases with additional Trickshot characters.
Warden: Wardens gain damage reduction. For the first ten seconds of combat, this reduction is increased. Additonal Wardens increase the amount of damage reduction.
Encounters, Augemnts and Quality of Life Improvements
Encounters are a new feature for Inkborn Fables. At random points in each match, the game will be interrupted by a visit from a mythic character. These visits can just be silly fun, or game-altering. While which of the numerous encounters you have are randomly determined, the devs have taken steps to make sure your game doesn’t get thrown too many curveballs. Some encounters will preclude others from happening later in the game. Just to make sure nothing gets completely broken.
New augments are coming in “Inkborn Fables” as well. Over 100 new augments will be giving players lots of new choices in how to fine-tune their teams. With over 50 of them trait-based, there will be plenty of opportunities for players to improve their team in tandem with the traits they are looking to build.
Several big quality-of-life improvements are also coming in “Inkborn Fables.” Looking to make the team planner more user-friendly, the devs have come up with a feature that allows you to screenshot your current team and add it directly to your team planner. Also, trait descriptions are getting added to the planner to help players keep track of which traits they want to build. And in good news for those who will be looking to write their “Inkborn Fables” on the go, the mobile team planner is being improved to bring it more in line with the PC build.
Cosmetics
“Inkborn Fables” will bring new cosmetics options, as well as new ways to acquire them. A new rotating shop will be added to the game. Running on its currency you can accumulate through treasure realms, the season pass, and more, this shop will feature a rotating stock of past items that were previously vaulted. Now players will have an opportunity to grab cosmetics they may have missed previously.
Treasure Realm is also getting a new feature that will make gaining pulls for this gatcha system more rewarding. A new reward track is coming that will dole out additional content as players pull from the realm. More stuff is always a win.
During the preview event, we also got a look at some of the new tacticians that are coming in “Inkborn Fables.” Headlined by both regular chibi Morgana and Majestic Empress Morgana, we will also be seeing Spirit Blossom Ahri, as well as Spirit Blossom Hun Dun.
Lastly, we got to see the new Heaven’s Celestial Court arena. This gorgeous arena featured lovely animations and a serene vibe.
With so much coming, fans old and new of Teamfight Tactics have lots to look forward to with “Inkborn Fables.” Good luck to everyone who will be diving into the new set. May your shop always contain the heroes you need!
