Physical: 100 was a reality series sensation upon release. Fans can gear up and prepare for its highly anticipated follow-up, Physical: 100 Season 2 — Underground which has finally been confirmed for relase. Season 1 introduced the concept of the show and a list of formidable athletes, all vying to become the last one standing. One hundred contestants in top physical shape all participate in a series of increasingly difficult challenges to become number one and win a cash reward.

To be expected, Physical: 100 Season 2 — Underground is upping the ante as the release approaches. The Korean reality competition series has increased the stakes with harder challenges. The arena — a massive mine — is now more extensive. However, not everything is different. Once again, a group of 100 diverse contestants of all ages, gender identities, and fitness backgrounds will compete in various questions to determine who has the “ideal physique.”

The complete list of competitors will be released at a later date. Season 1 had a number of runaway favorites — who can forget the standout moment where Jang Eun-sil let her team to victory in Quest 2? Part of the fun of the series is watching underdogs shock other competitors. This time around, the 100 includes athletes such as Kim Dong-hyun, the first Korean UFC fighter with the highest number of wins within Korea; Lee Won-hee, a gold medalist in judo; and Anthony Jung, a gold medalist in wrestling. Other contestant professions range from FBI diplomats, actors, singers, police officers, and military personnel.

Another highlight of the series is its body diversity, something we championed in its first season, writing:

“The goal of Physical 100 is to find the strongest body in Korea, and the casting directors have purposefully brought athletes, influencers, performers, and more with bodies across the spectrum. Instead of focusing on bodies that we typically think are “attractive” and strong, the cast of Physical 100 is there because their bodies have excelled in the strength that their specific areas require. Special operations soldiers, National Team gymnasts and wrestlers, bodybuilders, cross-fitters, fitness YouTubers and models, dancers, and pro-athletes, and not one body is exactly like the other.”

Physical: 100 Season 2 — Underground is set to release exclusively on Netflix starting on March 19.
