Director and writer Eli Roth (Thanksgiving) assembles quite the crew for his upcoming movie, the video game adaptation, Borderlands. Based on the game created by Gearbox Software and published by 2k, the film is being released by Lionsgate later this year. The game Borderlands is an action role-playing first-person looter shooter. The franchise takes place in a space Western science fantasy setting. It makes sense why the series would make for a perfect cinematic undertaking.
To celebrate the incoming release of the first teaser trailer, dropping February 21, Lionsgate is sharing the first look images and official posters. The all-star cast includes names such as Cate Blanchett, Jamie Lee Curtis and Jack Black. The latter ventures out in another video-game-based voice performance as Claptrap, following 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
What is the Borderlands Movie About
Lilith, an infamous bounty hunter with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home, Pandora, the most chaotic planet in the galaxy. Her mission is to find the missing daughter of Atlas, the universe’s most powerful S.O.B. Lilith forms an unexpected alliance with a ragtag team of misfits – Roland, a seasoned mercenary on a mission; Tiny Tina, a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg, Tina’s musclebound protector; Tannis, the oddball scientist who’s seen it all; and Claptrap, a wiseass robot.
Together, these unlikely heroes must battle an alien species and dangerous bandits to uncover one of Pandora’s most explosive secrets. The fate of the universe could be in their hands – but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other. Based on one of the best-selling videogame franchises of all time, welcome to
