Mountaintop Studios is thrilled to share an early look at their debut title, a genre-defining tactical FPS, and some details about their new $30 million funding round. Shroud is one of the premier names in the content creator space, where he’s carved out a space supported by his previous professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive career.

Mountaintop is a small, independent, fully-remote studio comprised of industry veterans from around the world looking to evolve the tactical shooter genre. The team is comprised of developers from major shooter titles, including Counter-Strike, Valorant, Apex Legends, Halo, Overwatch, and Battlefield.

This funding round bolsters Mountaintop’s mission to create a competitive shooter that pushes the boundaries of the tactical shooter genre. Having creators like Shroud, tarik, and CohhCarnage, who demonstrate a depth of gaming knowledge among the investment group, additionally affirms the studio’s concept and progress as they continue development.

The public can sign up to playtest the unannounced tactical shooter on the official Mountaintop website.

Nate Mitchell, Mountaintop Studios Co-founder & CEO had this to say about the milestone:

“I’m thrilled to share that Mountaintop has raised $30M in additional funding from some of the best investors in the industry. This capital will help us deliver an even better experience for our players…

X3 Growth Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, Abstract, vgames, BoxGroup, and Spark Capital participated in the round. We’re also honored to welcome some incredible new angel investors, including shroud, tarik, iiTzTimmy, Zedd, CohhCarnage, Sacriel, and Paul George. Thanks for joining us on this journey.

When we started Mountaintop in 2020, we set out with one simple goal: bring players together through unforgettable new challenges. That goal remains at the heart of what we do every day. Our commitment to being fully remote — forever — has helped us assemble an all-star team of shooter veterans committed to our player-first philosophy.”

Mountaintop Studios is gearing up to reveal the game later this year officially. Their yet-to-be-named project is a PvP tactical shooter currently in development for Windows PC.
